Citi Singapore: Internship Guide
Citi has operated in Singapore since 1902, making it one of the oldest international banks on the island. The Singapore office serves as the regional headquarters for Southeast Asia and functions as a major technology hub, with Citi's Asia Pacific Technology Operations centre employing thousands of engineers and data specialists. This dual nature — front-office banking and deep tech — means interns have an unusually wide choice of tracks.

Technology applications are open year-round for off-cycle roles.
Tips to Get Selected
- Target ICG if your background is non-finance. The Treasury & Trade Solutions and Securities Services tracks are strong pathways into Citi and are less oversubscribed than IBD or Markets.
- Research Citi's Singapore-specific footprint. Citi is a leader in ASEAN transaction banking. Knowing specific product lines (e.g., WorldLink payment solutions, Citi Trade Portal) signals genuine preparation.
- Complete the SJT thoughtfully. Citi weights the Situational Judgement Test heavily. There are no strictly correct answers — consistency and alignment with Citi's stated values (responsibility, ingenuity, excellence) matter.
- For technology roles, Python proficiency and familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) are valuable. Mention any open-source contributions or personal projects.
- Use LinkedIn to find Citi Singapore alumni from your university. Citi alumni are generally willing to provide informational interviews.
What the Internship Is Like
Citi Singapore runs a notably structured programme with defined learning objectives for each week. IBD interns typically rotate across product and coverage teams, which gives broader exposure than some peers. Markets interns sit on live desks with morning briefings on the macro backdrop and daily market moves.
The technology intern experience at Citi is increasingly valued internally. Tech interns join agile squads, attend daily standups, and deliver sprint outcomes at a demo day. Senior leadership visibility is strong — Citi Singapore runs a "Citi Leaders" speaker series and a charity hackathon specifically for interns.
Culture at Citi Singapore is described as "collaborative and inclusive" relative to some competitors. The firm has active employee networks for women, LGBTQ+ employees, and early career professionals that interns can engage with.
Return Offers & Full-Time Conversion
Citi Singapore converts approximately 65–75% of Summer Analysts. Technology conversion has been trending higher as Citi invests in its digital transformation. Full-time Analysts start globally in July, though off-cycle hires start on a rolling basis.
