AI Prototyping & Frontend Developer (AI-native, Agentic Coding, 6 mths Contract, Education, East)

To support the rapid prototyping, expansion and user support of internal web applications and educational technology tools through AI-native and agentic coding workflows, UI/UX design, testing and code verification Key Responsibilities • Assist in implementing features for internal web applications and educational technology tools using modern AI-native or agentic coding workflows. • Use natural-language-assisted development platforms, where appropriate, to accelerate prototyping while ensuring that generated code is reviewed, tested and fit for purpose. • Build out front-end components and integrate back-end workflows, including REST APIs and, where relevant, Brightspace Valence APIs. • Create UI/UX design styles, reusable design systems, components and design tokens that can be used consistently across multiple web applications. • Conduct user acceptance testing, document edge cases, identify bugs and verify end-to-end system workflows. • Assist with user tracking and support, gather feedback, suggest improvements and help monitor implementation progress. • Review AI-generated code snippets for efficiency, security, maintainability and logical correctness, and suggest or implement manual corrections where needed. • Work closely with the lead developer in a fast-paced prototyping environment where requirements may evolve through short iterations. Requirements • Relevant training or experience in software development, web application development, information systems, UI/UX design or a related area. • Good foundational knowledge of React, JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML and CSS. • General coding ability and familiarity with sound development practices for web applications. • Experience with, or high comfort level in using, AI coding assistants and AI-native development platforms such as Antigravity, Claude Code or OpenAI Codex. • Ability to read, debug and reverse-engineer code that may have been generated or written by others. • Familiarity with REST APIs is required; exposure to Brightspace Valence APIs would be advantageous. • Good UI/UX judgement, including aesthetics, colour sense, consistency and usability. • Strong testing and QA mindset, with ability to methodically identify flawed states, broken UI flows and integration issues. • Comfortable working independently in an agile, iterative prototyping Key Competencies • AI-assisted coding literacy and code verification. • Front-end web application implementation. • UI/UX design systems and reusable component thinking. • Testing, QA discipline and issue documentation. • Agility, independence and user-support orientation.
