About Us We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Barista to join Komunal Cafe, an inclusive specialty coffee space that serves quality beverages and creates a welcoming environment for all. From handcrafted filter brews to espresso-based drinks, we offer a variety of hot and cold beverages alongside sweet and savoury bites About the role As a Part-Time Barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of high-quality beverages, educating customers about our menu, recommending drinks based on individual preferences, and introducing featured or seasonal offerings. You’ll also take and manage orders efficiently, ensuring a smooth and pleasant service flow. Most importantly, you will help create a warm, welcoming, and memorable experience for every guest who walks through our doors. To succeed in this role, you should have excellent customer service skills, a good understanding of brewing equipment, and the ability to work flexible shifts. Responsibilities • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all food and beverage offerings at the cafe. • Prepare beverages and food items in accordance with company standards, ensuring consistency in taste, quality, and presentation. • Build strong customer relationships to enhance the overall café experience. • Recommend menu items or merchandise based on customer preferences, including featured or seasonal offerings. • Maintain the cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene of the café, including the workstations and equipment, in line with food safety standards. • Perform regular maintenance and care of coffee machines and brewing equipment to ensure optimal functionality. • Manage café inventory, including stock checks, replenishment, and handling deliveries. • Accurately operate the point-of-sale system and process customer transactions efficiently. • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth café operations and share ideas to improve customer experience. • Support café operations across roles and assist with other duties as needed by management. • Uphold consistency and quality in every cup of coffee served. • Possess foundational knowledge of coffee origins, grind sizes, brewing methods, and latte art pouring. Requirements and skills • Prior experience as a Barista or in a similar role is preferred but not essential – comprehensive training will be provided. • Genuine passion for coffee culture and the art of coffee-making. • Enjoys engaging with people and has a strong desire to work in the service and hospitality industry. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. • Willingness and flexibility to work on shifts, including weekends and Public Holidays.
