Job purpose: The Business Development role is responsible for identifying and capturing new business opportunities within the Machine Building industry. This includes building and nurturing strategic customer relationships, understanding market trends, andpositioning Phoenix Contact’s solutions to drive long-term, sustainable growth. The role focuses on promoting a comprehensive portfolio of solutions, including industrial automation, connectivity, smart business solutions, and digitalization. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Identify and develop new business opportunities across targeted industries and market segments. • Conduct market and industry research to understand customer needs, trends, and competitive positioning. • Develop and execute business development strategies to support revenue growth and market expansion. • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers, key decision makers, and stakeholders. • Understand customer challenges and propose tailored Phoenix Contact solutions that deliver business value. • Act as a trusted advisor to customers on industrial automation, smart solutions, and digital transformation initiatives. • Generate leads through prospecting, networking, referrals, cold outreach, and participation in industry events. • Prepare and present commercial proposals, business cases, and presentations, clearly demonstrating value and ROI. • Support negotiations in coordination with internal stakeholders to close business opportunities. • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Phoenix Contact’s product portfolio, solutions, and applications. • Work closely with technical, application, and engineering teams to deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions. • Conduct presentations, solution briefings, and product demonstrations during pre‑sales engagements. • Collaborate with sales, marketing, product management, and operations teams to support go‑to‑market activities. • Provide market feedback to internal teams to support product development and strategic planning. • Ensure accurate documentation of opportunities and customer interactions in CRM and internal systems. REQUIREMENT: • Diploma/Degree in Engineer (Control and Automation) or similar field • Minimum 3 years of experience in sales or business development. • A strong understanding of smart business solution, lOT, technology trends and machine building industry-specificknowledge is essential. • Familiarity with smart business technologies, software, and platforms is often preferred. • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple leads, opportunities, and client relationships simultaneously. • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams. • Proficient with Microsoft Office. • Willing to travel regionally.
