Database Administrator / Engineer

Details: - 1 Year Contract (Renewable) - Up to $5,400 + AWS + VB + Other Benefits - Central area Duties: • Administer and maintain databases across DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Snowflake platforms. • Ensure database availability, stability, and performance for both OLTP and OLAP environments. • Perform monitoring, health checks, performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning. • Manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery (DR), and high availability (HA) processes. • Troubleshoot database issues including performance degradation, replication failures, and data inconsistencies. • Support cloud database environments on AWS (RDS, EC2) and Snowflake, ensuring security, scalability, and operational efficiency. • Maintain monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, and Splunk, while developing automation scripts for maintenance tasks. • Support database releases, schema updates, migrations, and deployment activities in collaboration with application and infrastructure teams. • Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, incident reports, and support continuous improvement initiatives. • Participate in after-hours support for maintenance activities and critical incidents when required. Requirements • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. • Minimum 3 years of experience in Database Administration or Database Engineering across DB2, PostgreSQL, and MySQL platforms. • Experience supporting production or mission-critical systems, including AWS database services and Snowflake or similar data warehouse platforms. • Strong knowledge of SQL scripting, stored procedures, query tuning, and database performance optimization.
