About this role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Platform Engineer to manage and support enterprise database platforms in a mission-critical production environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of Sybase and PostgreSQL database services supporting business operations. This role requires strong technical expertise in database administration, troubleshooting, automation, capacity planning, and infrastructure support across complex enterprise environments. Key Responsibilities• Provide day-to-day operational support for production database environments including incidents, service requests, and change implementations. • Administer, maintain, and support Sybase ASE and PostgreSQL databases to ensure service availability and stability in accordance with SLA requirements. • Perform database backup, recovery, restoration, patching, upgrades, and installation activities. • Conduct performance monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and resolution of database and application-related issues. • Manage user access controls, database security, and server login administration. • Support replication, clustering, and high-availability database configurations. • Manage database schema objects, partitioning, indexing, and database maintenance activities including DBCC operations. • Perform capacity planning and optimization across the database estate. • Support production incidents and participate in resolution of complex or high-severity issues. • Work closely with application teams, architects, service managers, and project stakeholders on technology initiatives and roadmap execution. • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell, Ansible, and database scripting tools. • Support deployment readiness and continuous service improvement initiatives. • Perform OS-level activities related to database administration in Unix/Linux environments. • Evaluate emerging database technologies and recommend improvements for operational efficiency.
