Design Engineer- Process and Equipment

Responsibilities: • Design WSC (Water Steam cycle), select plant configuration and main equipment such as boiler, steam turbine, condenser (Thermal plant) and GT, HRSG, STG and condenser in case of CCPP • Prepare Heat and Mass balance diagrams (HMBD) and Water Balance Diagrams (WBD) • Prepare PFDs and P&IDs including KKS numbering • Provide process inputs to piping and I&C • Perform calculations involving sizing of equipment, pressure drop calculations, heat rate calculations and other required process calculations • Prepare Design Manual, System description and control philosophy document • Prepare plant start- up curves and plant operation philosophy • Prepare technical specifications, evaluate vendor offers and select vendors for GT, HRSG, STG, Condenser for CCPP • Prepare technical specifications, evaluate vendor offers and select vendors for Boiler (PC/CFB), Flue gas treatment (ESP, Bag house), Fans, STG, Condenser for thermal plants • Prepare technical specifications, evaluate vendor offers and select vendors for Condensate Extraction Pumps (CEP), Deaerator and Boiler Feed Pumps • Prepare technical specifications, evaluate vendor offers and select vendors for BOP equipment such as Water Treatment Plants (Pre-Treatment, Desalination, Demineralization), Natural gas system (Gas compressors, Filter Separators etc), Air compressors, Cooling tower, Cooling water pumps, Miscellaneous pumps, HVAC etc • Review vendor documents, submissions to client, respond to clients’ comments and approve vendor documents • Check shop test procedure and witness shop test of equipment • Attend technical clarification meetings with client • Prepare Plant operation philosophy document along with I&C and electrical team • Prepare Training manuals • Prepare and Compile O&M manuals • Any other duties to be assigned from time to time Pre-requisites: • Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent • Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in EPC power plant projects • Familiar with preparation of overall layout drawing and P&IDs for various systems • Able to interact effectively with Owner and Owner’s Engineers on technical issues • Familiar with International Codes and practices • Prior experience in leading a team of design engineers is an added advantage
