About this role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Research Officer / Research Officer to develop and support our molecular and omics capabilities in nutrigenomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics for large-scale aquaculture nutrition, health, and welfare research. This role combines hands-on technical expertise, platform development, and team coordination, bridging experimental biology with high-throughput molecular analyses. Responsibilities • Establish, optimize, and maintain workflows in: · RNA extraction, QC, and library preparation (bulk RNA-seq; transcriptomics) · Protein extraction, digestion, preparation for LC-MS/MS-based proteomics · Nutrigenomics assays linked to diet, stress, immunity, and growth • Ensure reproducibility, traceability, and SOP standardization across experiments • Coordinate sample pipelines from farm/experimental systems to molecular analysis • Work closely with PIs, postdocs, and students to: • · Design sampling strategies aligned with nutritional / physiological hypotheses • · Integrate omics endpoints into feeding, vaccination, and challenge trials • Support interpretation of molecular results in a biological and nutritional context • Contribute to manuscripts, reports, and grant deliverables (methods, QA/QC sections) • Ensure day-to-day operationsof the molecular laboratory • Guide and mentor technicians, students, and visiting researchers • Manage consumables, reagents, service contracts, and equipment maintenance • Ensure compliance with biosafety, animal ethics, and institutional guidelines Requirements • PhD or MSc with strong experience in molecular biology, omics, or nutritional physiology • Demonstrated hands-on experience in transcriptomics and/or proteomics • Strong background in sample preparation, QC, and experimental rigor • Proven ability to support laboratory operations and coordinate multiple projects Salary and benefits are commensurable to educational qualifications and working experience of the candidate.
