Graduate Trainee G2 Ocean is one of the world’s largest ship operators in the open hatch segment, specialising in cargo handling, trade management and global port operations. Our fleet of over 120 open hatch and conventional bulk vessels serves customers worldwide, transporting commodities such as pulp and paper, aluminium, steel and industrial minerals. We are also a specialist inmoving project cargo, delivering safe and efficient logistics solutions across our global network. The Opportunity We are looking for a high-potential Graduate Trainee to join G2 Ocean under a structured 2-year rotational program. You will rotate predominantly across Operations, Chartering, and Project Cargo, gaining end-to-end exposure to how we operate, execute voyages, manage customers and contracts, and deliver complex cargo solutions. You will learn through hands-on work and clear learning objectives for each rotation. The program is designed to develop strong foundational capability and prepare you for a future role within our commercial and operations organisation. Reporting Line & Support The position reports to a Senior Manager/ Manager. Rotation managers will provide on the job training, and you will be supported through development checkpoints across the program. Key Responsibilities (across the 2-year program) You will be exposed and rotate into different functions of the business during the designated phases of training, including responsibilities such as: Commercial & Customer Support - Support and build customer relations in accordance with company policy and trade targets - Participate in developing new accounts and market intelligence in the assigned trade - Monitor and document customer satisfaction - Register and assist in resolving incidents in accordance with company policy Chartering & Trade Execution Support - Participate in fulfilling commercial responsibilities of the designated trade team, including responsibilities assigned to chartering in the Voyage Execution Process Participate in voyage pre-planning and voyage preparation activities - Assist in cargo line-ups, contract cargo allocation, and spot cargo support (as applicable) - Support trade routines and monthly reporting preparation Operations & Voyage Execution Support - Ensure compliance against agreed working practices in all relevant systems supporting the Voyage Execution process - Ensure that all data is accurate, valid and complete in a timely manner throughout Voyage Execution - Support post-fixture operational coordination and contribute to post-voyage activities and learnings Systems, Data & Administration - Participate in creating and managing core commercial information in our systems - Create and manage trade administration, master files, and voyage set-up (as applicable) - Assist with budgets and forecasts preparation (as applicable to the rotation) Stakeholder Collaboration - Work closely with colleagues across Chartering, Operations, Project Cargo and Corporate Functions - Coordinate and communicate effectively to support smooth execution and continuous learning Requirements - For fresh Graduates only; a degree in Maritime Studies or a related field is advantageous. - Strong interest in shipping, chartering, operations and/or project cargo logistics - Analytical mindset with good attention to detail and willingness to learn systems and processes - Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style - Able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt across rotations What We Offer - A structured 2-year rotational program with meaningful exposure and learning outcomes - Training from experienced managers and cross-functional stakeholders - Development opportunities within a global shipping organisation
