Lecturer (Media, Communication & Graphic Design) This is a 1-year contract role, with potential renewal orconversion based on performance and organisational headcount. Main Duties and Responsibilities Learning, Teaching, and Assessment • Provide effective support to the School inteaching, including development and maintenance of academic standards. • Plan, prepare and deliver lessons and setassessment and learning activities to a range of classes(lecturers/tutorials/asynchronous) and age groups of students (includingoverseas colleges, if required) • Administer the setting and marking of courseworkand examination. • Review and ensure the quality of examinationpapers under area(s) of specialisation • Manage the moderation of coursework andexamination results. • Conduct objective assessments on examinationappeal cases. • Monitor student progress through the applicationof formative and summative assessment strategies that support appropriatefeedback and skills development. • Monitor student success rates to an agreedstandard across all student levels • Conduct objective assessments on examinationappeal cases. • Conduct administration duties pertinent to theprogrammes of study in the School. • Engage in student development by providingstrong learning support and monitoring of students’ academic performances. Programme Management & Curriculum/ PartnershipDevelopment • Periodically review and develop programmespertinent to the School to ensure continued relevance and quality improvementof curricula. • Evaluate and recommend appropriate teachingmaterials to cover the learning outcomes of the different programmes of study. • Develop online learning strategies with aduality of pedagogical functions (online learning, Blended learning). • Assist the Assistant Director (Academic) inexploring new programmes to grow the school. • Assist the Assistant Director (Academic) inacademic partnerships and courses. • Coordinate and prepare information forinspection and quality assurance assessments. • Undertake knowledge exchange and other scholarlyactivity to contribute to the development of new areas in the relevant subjectfield. • Lead as Module Leader/Programme Leader andmonitor the performance of Associate Lecturers. • Advise students with respect to academicperformance, career opportunities, and advanced studies. • Ensure that programme design and delivery isconsistent with the academic framework and quality standards and regulations ofthe Academy. Research & Knowledge Exchange • Expected to have knowledge and understanding ofe-learning platforms/LMS such as Blackboard etc. • Represent the School in selected academiccommittee, where necessary. Others • Represent and participate in marketing eventsfor the School. • Perform other duties/projects as assigned by theAssistant Director (Academic) /Director of School. Requirements • Masters/Degree Holder • At least a pass at GCE ‘O’ level or itsequivalent in the language medium of the course/module. • 3-4 years of experience with Teaching experienceessential. • Experience or knowledge of module and/orprogramme leadership, development and administration within a higher educationenvironment. • Evidence of engagement in professional practiceand the ability to design, deliver and assess a range of modules in and relatedto specialist areas of professional practice. • Enthusiasm in working in an interdisciplinarycontext. • Evidence of commitment to continuingprofessional development. • Experience in working with digital technologyincluding an interest in emerging technology and techniques and maintaining anactive interest in related developments within the sector. • Excellent interpersonal and communicationskills. • Good people skills and ability to handledifficult situations, lead and motivate people. • Ability to work as part of a wider teaminvolving senior managers. • Willing to work evenings (when needed).
