Liaison Officer (6 months, Outram Park, UP$3.5)

This role involves direct engagement with scam victims to provide emotional support, reduce the risk of further financial losses, and help victims break free from scam cycles through compassionate intervention and coordinated care. Key Responsibilities• Work closely with Investigation Officers (IOs) to engage scam victims and maintain proper documentation of all interactions. • Explain Restriction Orders (ROs) clearly and guide victims through the process with patience, empathy, and professionalism. • Conduct regular follow-ups with victims throughout the RO period to build trust and encourage open communication regarding their experiences. • Provide anti-scam education and practical advice on safeguarding personal information, securing financial accounts, and recognising future scam attempts. • Support victims in rebuilding confidence and strengthening their decision-making abilities while maintaining appropriate protective measures. • Assist victims in accessing suitable social support services through referrals to relevant community agencies. • Organise and participate in appropriate activities with victims to strengthen therapeutic relationships and provide supportive, normalising experiences. • Facilitate mid-point case conferences with relevant stakeholders to review case progress and adjust intervention strategies where necessary. • Monitor victims for signs of ongoing scam involvement or renewed targeting attempts, and escalate concerns appropriately. • Coordinate and schedule required assessment sessions during the RO period, ensuring victims understand the purpose and benefits of the assessments. • Arrange participation in scam victim support groups to encourage peer support and shared learning opportunities. • Build and maintain partnerships with community agencies to expand referral networks and enhance support resources available to victims. • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all victim engagements, including case backgrounds, intervention strategies, emotional observations, risk indicators, and progress assessments. • Ensure documentation complies with departmental standards and supports effective case management and review processes. • Track victims’ progress from initial engagement through to case resolution, identifying factors that contribute to successful interventions and recovery outcomes. • Prepare regular progress reports and updates for supervisors and Investigation Officers to support ongoing case planning and intervention strategies.
