About this role
Location: Peranakan Mansion, Joo Chiat Employment Type: Part-Time Working Days: Selected weekdays and weekends Working Hours: 11:00am–7:00pm, with occasional event hours Peranakan Mansion is looking for a friendly, energetic and hands-on Museum Assistant to support daily museum operations and photography service. The role includes welcoming and engaging visitors, explaining museum experiences, assisting with dress-up, taking professional photographs for guests who purchase photography services, processing payments, supporting sales and carrying out general museum duties, including social media support. Roles and Responsibilities• Welcome visitors and explain the museum’s admission, tours, dress-up, photography, workshops and Nyonya kueh and tea offerings. • Encourage suitable visitors to consider kebaya dress-up and photography. • Take attractive photographs of individuals, couples, families and groups using the museum’s DSLR camera. • Work confidently in low-light indoor areas and selected outdoor locations. • Guide guests on posing, expressions and flattering angles. • Check image quality and carry out basic photo selection, culling and editing. Museum Support• Capture simple photographs and videos for social media posts, stories and reels. • Assist with opening, closing, visitor flow, events, group visits and general museum operations. • Help maintain the cleanliness and presentation of visitor, photography and dressing areas. • Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by management. Requirements• Friendly, confident and comfortable engaging visitors. • Good communicator with positive energy and a pleasant personality. • Comfortable with sales, upselling and payment collection. • Able to use a DSLR camera and take good-quality indoor and outdoor photographs. • Basic photo editing skills using common software or AI apps. • Able to communicate in English and Mandarin. • Well-groomed, responsible, punctual and able to work as part of a team. • Able to commit to the agreed schedule, including weekends and occasional evenings. Preferred Experience• Experience in customer service, hospitality, tourism, retail or attractions. • Experience in portrait, event, commercial or wedding photography. • Experience in social media content creation, sales or visitor engagement. Important: This is a multi-tasking museum operations role. Photography forms part of the position.
