About this role
Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N), established in 2010, has exceled in developing and delivering research relevant to industries. The institute integrates research across different schools within NTU to address energy challenge and subsequent translate into industrial scale and practices. SCARCE (Singapore CEA Alliance for Research in Circular Economy) - a joint collaboration between NTU (Singapore) and CEA (France) – under ERI@N focus on recycling of electronic waste. One of the research thrusts is recycling of silicon solar panels and recovery of embedded materials – focusing in developing effective and efficient recycling pathway for the growing silicon solar panel waste Energy Research Institute @NTU invites applications for the position of Project Officer to work on recycling of silicon solar panels. The role will focus on the hydrometallurgical processing of metals and silicon, including their dissolution and recovery, as well as supporting process scale-up activities Key Responsibilities: • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and provide periodic updates on developments of hydrometallurgical approaches for recycling solar panel waste • Perform and optimize hydrometallurgical processing of solar grey mass at both laboratory-scale and large-scale, along with electrorecovery of valuable materials • Analyse metallic concentrations in leachate solution and conduct material characterisation on residues or solar grey mass (e.g. ICP-OES, SEM/EDX, particle size analyzer) • Participate in collaborative work with team members and external collaborators, including preparation of technical reports, videos, manuals and presentation of results • Assist with laboratory logistics, administrative tasks, and coordination of project-related activities to ensure smooth operations Job Requirements: • Bachelor in chemistry/chemical engineering/material science or related fields is required. • Familiarity with material characterization techniques such as SEM-EDX, XRD, ICP-OES would be advantageous. • Hands-on experience in electrochemical analysis techniques would be advantageous. • Entry level candidates are welcome to apply • Willingness to learn, with adaptability and flexibility to take on tasks beyond the job description • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work cohesively in a team whilst sharing resources We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
