About this role
The NCCS Division of Medical Oncology is looking for 4 Research Coordinators to join the BREXINT study team: Breast Cancer Exercise Intervention, a nationwide randomized study examining the effect of prescribed exercise (versus control) on cancer recurrence and survival in early breast cancer patients, as well as the behavioural tools that help make exercise a habit. The Research Coordinator facilitates patient recruitment onto the study from all participating public hospitals in Singapore (each Research Coordinator is assigned 1-2 hospitals to cover), manages the patients’ appointment schedules, conducts questionnaires, inputs data onto spreadsheets, presents updates at regular meetings, liaises with other study team members, namely: doctors, nurses, clinic operations, physiotherapists, exercise trainers, exercise physiologists, academic psychologists, health economists, digital app collaborators. Key Responsibilities 1.Patient Recruitment Work closely with doctors and nurses from DMO and Breast Surgery to recruit eligible patients for BREXINT • Identify and recruit patients who are eligible for BREXINT • Explain BREXINT: objectives, study procedures, visit schedule, use of the digital app and wearable 2.Arrange appointments for patients • Work closely with Clinic Operations to book appointments • Convey this information to patients via the digital app or text messaging, phone calls, email • Assist with patient queries/requests 3.Conduct questionnaires • For patients who cannot do the questionnaires on the digital app 4.Clinical data management • Extract and collate patients’ clinical data 5.Administrative and operational work • Present updates at regular Study Team meetings • Liaise with digital app collaborator re: data collection, data verification, troubleshooting issues with app functionality, wearables Main Requirements: • Degree in Life Sciences or a related health‑science field (or equivalent). • Prior patient‑facing experience is an advantage but not mandatory. • Prior lab experience (blood sample processing) is an advantage but not mandatory. • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. • Able to communicate effectively in English; ability to communicate with diverse linguistic groups (e.g. Chinese, Malay, Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese) is preferred. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Motivated, patient‑centric, and able to engage various stakeholders (patients, healthcare professionals, allied health professionals, digital app collaborators). • Able to work independently with initiative. • Meticulous with an eye for detail • Comfortable with basic IT tools and communication applications (e.g. WhatsApp).
