About this role
Research Fellow in “Deploying geometrically-designed algorithms” The Nanyang Quantum Solutions team led by Prof. Marek Gluza at NTU Singapore is seeking a new member to tailor quantum circuits based on geometrically motivated approaches capable of preparing cold quantum many-body states with not too many operations so prototypes of quantum computers can run these. This is a postdoc position, you must have a PhD degree. With whom? With Prof. Marek Gluza at NTU Singapore who is eager to debate with you whether double-bracket quantum algorithms or a different approach are the right one when executing on Helios or Heron. The research group is being formed and see https://marekgluza.github.io/ for the intended culture centered on the idea of serving experimental efforts through theoretical support developing quantum middleware solutions. Key Responsibilities: • Translate ideas from differential geometry to outperform state-of-the-art quantum algorithms like QPE. The starting point are double-bracket flows. • Use experience as physicist to translate mathematical theory from linear algebra and analysis into actionable quantum computing programming. • Translate theoretical protocols into action by engineering solutions that make hardware involving cold atoms (The National Quantum Processor Initiative as part of Singapore’s National Quantum Strategy) to reach further than its current capabilities. • Develop R&D solutions under NDA with commercial providers or for in-house prototypes. • Manage quantum computing solutions starting from their conception to delivering solutions that actually work and bring values to experiments. • Provide high quality quantum middleware solutions between software and hardware that will facilitate long term quantum hardware capabilities. Competencies and Qualification Requirements: • PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science or related field • At least 1 years of relevant experiences in similar role and or technical hands-on experience in executing quantum circuits on quantum hardware • Familiarity with standard quantum computing SDKs • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Proficiency in programming languages, numeric and analytical skills • Competent in proactively mentoring junior and fellow peers • Ability to work independently, develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details, excellent organizational and time management skills. We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified. You may provide a cover letter: As part of our merit-based hiring, we recognize that potential isn’t always reflected in traditional metrics. We invite all applicants to contextualize their journey in a personally written cover letter. This helps us evaluate your prospective potential alongside your existing abilities; see the guide for applicants for more information. Applicants from underrepresented groups or those from countries affected by crises are particularly encouraged to provide one.
