• 1-year contract, renewable • Government project • Hybrid work arrangement Product Overview The Weather Data Lake (WDL) is a platform initiative by the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), which collects, processes, and produces vast volumes of meteorological, climate, and transactional data – Including radar, satellite, model data, in-situ observations, OPMET, IWXXM, forecasts, warnings, and open data outputs. These datasets form the backbone of national weather services, aviation safety, climate research, and downstream public and private sector decision-making. The platform aims to position MSS as Singapore's trusted source of weather and environmental intelligence by building a modern Weather Data Lakehouse as the Single Source of Truth (SSoT) for all MSS data – powering a scalable, AI-enabled analytics platform that accelerates operational forecasting, research, and product development, and delivers accurate, timely, and actionable insights for the nation. What you will be working on As a Senior Experience & Interface Designer, you will be responsible for designing user-centred digital interfaces that are intuitive, functional, and visually appealing across various platforms. Working closely with Product, Tech, Data, and Business partners, you will focus on enhancing usability, accessibility, and overall user experience to deliver services and experiences that create meaningful business impact. Success in this role requires a strong graphic design sensibility, systems thinking, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and agile environment while managing complex design challenges from concept through to delivery. Responsibilities Experience Design • Design user flows, information architecture, and interactive elements to ensure intuitive navigation and functionality • Create micro-interactions and motion designs to enhance user experience and provide visual feedback Interface Design • Create visually appealing and functional user interfaces for websites, applications, and digital platforms • Develop graphics, icons, illustrations, and other visual elements aligned with branding guidelines • Select appropriate colour palettes and typography to enhance readability and visual hierarchy Wireframing and Prototyping • Develop low to high-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes to visualise and test design concepts Responsive and Accessible Design • Ensure designs adapt seamlessly to different screen sizes and devices • Implement accessibility best practices to accommodate users with disabilities Design Systems and Documentation • Develop and maintain style guides, pattern libraries, and design systems for product consistency Usability Testing and Iteration • Conduct or participate in usability testing to gather feedback on design effectiveness • Embrace an iterative design approach, continuously refining based on user feedback and testing results Experience and Skills Needed • Advanced degree, training, or certification in Graphic Design, UX & UI Design, Interaction Design, or evidence of exceptional ability in related design fields • Experience working as an experience designer, product designer, or in related roles • An excellent portfolio showcasing UX/UI and visual design work with a strong graphic design sensibility that creates business impact • Strong knowledge of product design processes and emerging technologies • Comfortable working with Product, Tech, Data, and Business partners to deliver services and experiences • Proficient and highly skilled with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and/or Adobe Creative Suite • Demonstrates systems thinking, teamwork, leadership, and planning, with a track record of successfully implementing projects in a dynamic and agile environment • Self-directed, organised, and efficient, with deep and insightful thinking and a passion for tackling complex problems • Effective communicator, presenter, and negotiator with the ability to articulate and advocate for design decisions across teams
