Application Process & Timeline
- Online Application — bcg.com/careers. Opens August–October.
- Online Assessments — BCG Potential Test (quantitative reasoning, twelve questions in 45 minutes) for some roles, plus a written case study component.
- First-Round Interviews — Two case interviews with Associates or Consultants. BCG uses a candidate-led case format (you structure the case and drive the analysis).
- Second-Round Interviews — Two more case interviews with Partners. A "BCG Experience Interview" assessing motivation and personal characteristics.
- Offer — Within one week of final round.
Tips to Get Selected
- Master the candidate-led case format. BCG cases are candidate-led, unlike McKinsey's interviewer-led format. You are expected to structure the problem, identify the key question, and drive the analysis to a recommendation. Practise structuring cases from a blank page.
- Prepare for the BCG Potential Test. The twelve-question quantitative test is time-pressured. Practise speed-reading data tables, performing mental arithmetic under time constraints, and working with percentages and growth rates.
- Study BCG's focus areas. BCG Singapore is particularly active in financial services, healthcare, and consumer goods. Research one or two recent BCG reports in these sectors (available free at bcg.com/publications) and be ready to discuss key insights.
- Demonstrate intellectual curiosity. BCG's culture values intellectual ambition and original thinking. Come with a genuine opinion on a business challenge you have researched, and be ready to defend it while remaining open to challenge.
- Practise with the BCG Case Library. BCG provides practice cases on its website. Completing all of them and recording yourself is excellent preparation.
What the Internship Is Like
BCG Singapore internships are characterised by fast learning, high expectations, and genuine intellectual challenge. Summer Associates are staffed on real client engagements and expected to contribute analysis within the first week. The firm has a culture of direct feedback — weekly "team huddles" address both the quality of work and personal development areas.
BCG X interns work in a more technology-oriented environment with sprints, design thinking workshops, and cross-functional collaboration between consultants, engineers, and designers. The culture is slightly less hierarchical than traditional consulting and more comfortable with ambiguity.
Hours are demanding: fifty to sixty hours per week during active project phases. Travel within ASEAN is common. The upside is that the learning density is exceptional — a ten-week BCG internship is equivalent to a year of professional development in many other organisations.
Return Offers & Full-Time Conversion
BCG Singapore converts approximately 65–75% of Summer Associates. Full-time Associate roles start in July. Interns who do not convert are given detailed development feedback and may be recommended for alternative consulting opportunities within BCG's extended network.
