Tips to Get Selected
- Lead with sustainable finance knowledge. BNP Paribas is one of the world's largest arrangers of green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, and ESG-linked derivatives. Knowing the bank's sustainable finance targets and naming a recent green bond in ASEAN is a genuine differentiator.
- Target the Securities Services track if you want lower competition. BNP Paribas Securities Services is a global leader in custody and fund administration but is less well known to students than the IBD track. It offers excellent exposure with less recruitment competition.
- Prepare for structured products questions in Global Markets. BNP Paribas is known for complex structured credit and equity derivatives. Be ready to discuss how an equity-linked note or a credit default swap works at a conceptual level.
- Show a European cultural awareness. As a French institution, BNP Paribas values multilingualism and cross-cultural competence. Mentioning any French language study, European travel, or international exposure adds a relevant dimension.
- Apply early. BNP Paribas Singapore fills quickly, and the recruitment timeline sometimes moves faster than US banks' cycles.
What the Internship Is Like
BNP Paribas Singapore runs a well-structured intern programme with formal onboarding, a buddy system, and weekly educational seminars. The culture is described as international, collaborative, and less aggressive than some US banks. Senior bankers are generally approachable and willing to explain deal context.
Global Markets interns attend morning briefings and work on desk research and client presentation projects. Corporate Finance interns are staffed on pitch preparation and live deal support. Technology interns work in product squads delivering real-world features.
Work hours are demanding in Global Markets and Corporate Finance (10-to-14-hour days at peak) but more balanced in Technology and Securities Services.
Return Offers & Full-Time Conversion
BNP Paribas Singapore converts approximately 55–65% of Summer Interns. Full-time offers lead into BNP Paribas' Graduate Programme (a structured two-year rotational scheme) or direct Analyst placements. Interns who receive graduate programme offers skip the general application queue.
