In Singapore, CapitaLand's assets are iconic: ION Orchard, CapitaSpring, Raffles City, and the Ascott serviced residence brand. Tips to Get Selected
- Know CapitaLand's REIT portfolio. CapitaLand manages CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust (CICT), CapitaLand China Trust, Ascendas REIT (now part of CapitaLand), and others. Understanding how a REIT is structured, what distribution yield means, and how cap rates work is essential preparation.
- Show sustainability knowledge. CapitaLand has committed to being carbon neutral by 2050 and has active green building certification programmes across its portfolio. Knowing the BCA Green Mark rating system, Singapore's Singapore Green Plan 2030, and CapitaLand's 2030 sustainability goals demonstrates alignment with the firm's priorities.
- For Development roles, familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) and AutoCAD or Revit software is a genuine differentiator. Architecture or Civil Engineering students have a natural edge here.
- Research CapitaSpring. CapitaSpring is CapitaLand's newest Singapore mixed-use development. Understanding its green sky garden concept, mixed-use design, and LEED Platinum certification shows current Singapore real estate awareness.
- Apply for the December intake. CapitaLand's December cohort has lower competition than summer, and the exposure quality is equivalent.
What the Internship Is Like
CapitaLand internships offer exposure to real assets at national landmark scale. Investment interns may contribute to REIT quarterly reporting analysis or assist in due diligence for a new acquisition. Development interns may attend project site visits and contribute to planning documentation for live developments. Sustainability interns work with real data from CapitaLand's property management systems.
The culture at CapitaLand is professional, structured, and values-oriented. The firm's "We Are CapitaLand" values framework (Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, Excellence, Unity) is embedded in performance reviews and daily working practices. Mentorship quality is generally high, with senior executives who have years of real estate experience willing to share knowledge.
Work hours are reasonable: 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on most days, with site visits occasionally requiring early starts.
Return Offers & Full-Time Conversion
CapitaLand converts approximately 35–50% of interns into graduate roles. The primary full-time pathway is the CapitaLand Graduate Programme, a two-year rotational scheme. Strong interns in Investment and Development tracks are frequently offered places.
