Changi Airport Group Internship Guide
Changi Airport Group (CAG) manages and develops Singapore Changi Airport, consistently voted the world's best airport. Internship programmes span airport technology, commercial development, engineering, operations, and sustainability. A CAG internship offers exposure to a genuinely world-class operational environment at the centre of Southeast Asia's aviation hub.
Changi Airport Group: Internship Guide
Changi Airport Group was established in 2009 when Singapore's Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) corporatised the airport management function. CAG manages and develops Changi Airport — which handles over 65 million passengers annually across four terminals — and owns Jewel Changi Airport (a mixed-use retail and leisure development) and provides airport consultancy services globally through Changi Airports International (CAI). Changi has won the Skytrax World's Best Airport award thirty consecutive times. For students, CAG offers an internship at one of the world's most operationally complex and commercially diverse aviation hubs.

Tips to Get Selected
- Know Changi Airport's competitive position. Changi is the world's most connected airport and a key enabler of Singapore's economic model as an international hub. Understanding the airport's role in connecting ASEAN cargo, passenger flows, and logistics chains demonstrates genuine interest.
- Research Terminal 5. T5 is one of the world's largest infrastructure projects, and CAG is heavily invested in its development. Knowing T5's planned scale, sustainable design ambitions, and technology integration gives you outstanding "Why CAG?" material.
- For technology roles, airport systems are safety-critical and highly regulated. Showing awareness of aviation IT standards (IATA, ICAO digital standards, airport biometrics frameworks) demonstrates domain-specific awareness.
- Highlight any hospitality or retail experience. Jewel Changi Airport and the terminal retail operations are a major revenue driver for CAG. Commercial internship candidates with retail, F&B, or customer experience backgrounds have a genuine edge.
- Apply early. CAG is a prestigious employer and its intern programme fills quickly. Applications open in December for summer — do not wait until February.
What the Internship Is Like
CAG internships offer a uniquely immersive operational environment. Technology interns may contribute to live airport systems that process hundreds of thousands of passengers daily. Engineering interns participate in real infrastructure maintenance and development projects. Commercial interns analyse retail data from Jewel's 280 stores and passenger experience surveys.
The culture is service-excellence-oriented, operationally disciplined, and values-driven. CAG's "Soar" culture framework emphasises service obsession, ownership, and agility. Mentorship quality is generally strong, with experienced airport operations professionals willing to share their expertise.
Work hours are structured: 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for most roles, with some operational roles requiring early starts or late shifts during peak periods.
Return Offers & Full-Time Conversion
CAG converts approximately 35–50% of interns. Full-time roles span technology, commercial, operations, and engineering. CAG's Graduate Development Programme provides structured career development with exposure across the airport's diverse operations.
