Tips to Get Selected
- Target the Restructuring track if you are interested in distressed situations. KPMG's Restructuring practice is one of the most active in Singapore, working on large corporate workouts and M&A in distressed situations. This track is less oversubscribed than Audit or Tax but offers exceptional deal exposure.
- Know KPMG's ASEAN infrastructure advisory work. KPMG advises on infrastructure project finance transactions across ASEAN, including energy, transportation, and social infrastructure. Showing interest in this practice area is a real differentiator.
- For Lighthouse roles, Python and data visualisation skills (Tableau, Power BI) are the primary prerequisites. Bring a portfolio of data projects.
- Research KPMG Singapore's notable engagements. KPMG has worked on the Singapore government's public finance advisory, major restructuring assignments, and notable ASEAN M&A transactions. Public information from media coverage can give you specific examples to reference.
- Show client-service orientation. KPMG interviewers consistently ask about experiences where you delivered value to an external party — a customer, a stakeholder, or a community. Frame past experiences in client-service terms.
What the Internship Is Like
KPMG Singapore runs a structured intern programme with formal onboarding, buddy pairings, and regular learning sessions. Audit interns work on real client files under manager supervision. Deal Advisory interns contribute to live transaction processes — financial models, valuation analyses, and due diligence report sections. Restructuring interns may attend creditor meetings (observer status) and contribute to recovery analysis.
The culture at KPMG Singapore is professional and relatively collaborative. The firm has strong networks for women and younger professionals. The office at KPMG Hub at one-north has modern collaborative spaces.
Work hours vary: Deal Advisory and Restructuring have project-driven crunch periods; Audit has seasonal peaks; Tax and Risk Consulting are more consistent.
Return Offers & Full-Time Conversion
KPMG Singapore converts approximately 50–65% of interns into the Graduate Programme or direct Associate hires. Professional qualification support (CA Singapore, ACCA) is provided for Audit and Tax graduates. Deal Advisory and Restructuring hires are offered direct Associate roles in a specialist career track.
