L.E.K. Consulting Singapore Internship Guide
L.E.K. Consulting is a global strategy consulting firm known for its deep expertise in life sciences, consumer goods, private equity due diligence, and aviation. The Singapore office serves as the firm's Asia Pacific hub and offers a Summer Associate Intern programme that is highly competitive but significantly less oversubscribed than MBB, with an excellent full-time conversion rate.
L.E.K. Consulting Singapore: Internship Guide
L.E.K. Consulting was founded in London in 1983 and today operates globally with significant practices in life sciences, private equity, consumer goods, transport, and healthcare. The Singapore office, opened in the late 1990s, serves as the firm's Asia Pacific headquarters and advises multinational corporations, private equity funds, and government bodies across the region. L.E.K. is particularly well known for its rigorous quantitative analysis and its dominant position in life sciences strategy consulting globally — a strength that is increasingly relevant as Singapore positions itself as Asia's biomedical hub.

Tips to Get Selected
- Research L.E.K.'s life sciences and PE practices. These are the firm's two most distinctive global strengths. Reading L.E.K.'s published insights on life sciences commercialisation strategies, biosimilars, or APAC healthcare market trends (available free on lek.com) is excellent preparation.
- Prepare quantitative cases. L.E.K. cases are known for their quantitative depth. Market sizing, financial analysis, and data-heavy business assessments are standard. Be comfortable with back-of-envelope maths and logical estimation without a calculator.
- Apply earlier than MBB. L.E.K. Singapore processes applications on a rolling basis and often interviews in October–November — earlier than MBB. Applying in September gives you the best chance.
- Show genuine sector interest. Unlike MBB, which values generalist problem-solving, L.E.K. interviewers respond positively to students who can discuss their ASEAN healthcare market, consumer goods retail trends, or PE due diligence frameworks with genuine knowledge.
- Leverage the smaller office culture. L.E.K. Singapore is a smaller team than MBB, which means every intern is visible to senior leadership. Demonstrating initiative and intellectual curiosity throughout the internship — not just in the final presentation — matters significantly.
What the Internship Is Like
L.E.K. Singapore internships are intellectually rigorous and fast-paced. Given the smaller team size, interns often work directly with Managers and Partners from the first week. Project deliverables have real business stakes: L.E.K.'s clients make investment, acquisition, and market entry decisions based on intern-contributed analysis. The analytical standards are high.
The culture is meritocratic, collaborative, and somewhat more informal than MBB. L.E.K. runs intern social events and firm-wide knowledge sharing sessions. The Singapore office has a close-knit team culture that many alumni describe as a genuine differentiator.
Hours are demanding: fifty to sixty per week during active project phases. Travel within ASEAN is common for PE due diligence projects.
Return Offers & Full-Time Conversion
L.E.K. Singapore converts approximately 60–75% of Summer Associate Interns. Full-time Associate roles start the following October. The conversion rate reflects L.E.K.'s deliberate, small-cohort approach to intern selection and the high visibility of each intern's performance.
