Ninja Van Internship Guide
Ninja Van is Southeast Asia's largest last-mile logistics network, founded in Singapore in 2014 and now operating across six countries. As a tech-enabled logistics company with over 2,500 engineers and a $2.4 billion valuation, Ninja Van offers internships in software engineering, data science, product, and operations that combine the intensity of a startup with the scale of a regional leader.
Ninja Van: Internship Guide
Ninja Van was founded in 2014 in Singapore and has become Southeast Asia's dominant last-mile logistics network, delivering hundreds of millions of parcels annually across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. The company employs over 50,000 people — primarily Ninja-branded delivery riders — and over 2,500 full-time employees at its Singapore headquarters and regional offices. Ninja Van is technology-led: the company's routing algorithms, real-time tracking systems, and shipper APIs are core competitive advantages. For students, this means internships in a genuinely complex, high-scale technical environment with direct business impact.
Key Internship Programmes
Software Engineering Intern — Twelve weeks. Teams: routing and optimisation, shipper API, mobile (driver and shipper apps), data infrastructure, and payments.
Data Science / Operations Research Intern — Projects in route optimisation, delivery time prediction, capacity planning, and demand forecasting.
Product Management Intern — For students interested in logistics tech product. Interns work on shipper-facing tools, driver apps, or B2B API products.
Supply Chain / Operations Intern — For business and engineering students interested in logistics operations, network design, and last-mile performance analytics.
Corporate Functions Intern — Finance, HR, and Marketing roles open to business and communications students.

- Interview(s) — One to two rounds. Technical for SWE; case and discussion for ops and PM roles.
- Offer — One to two weeks after final interview.
Tips to Get Selected
- Show logistics and operations interest. Ninja Van's biggest need is people who find last-mile logistics genuinely interesting. Understanding parcel delivery economics, route optimisation concepts, and the challenge of cash-on-delivery across ASEAN is highly valued.
- For Operations Research / Data Science, demonstrate familiarity with optimisation concepts: vehicle routing problem (VRP), linear programming, and simulation. Even coursework or a project using Google OR-Tools or PuLP is a strong signal.
- For SWE, Go and Python are Ninja Van's primary backend languages. API design experience (RESTful or gRPC) and comfort with message queues (Kafka or similar) reflects the actual tech stack.
- Apply in January for summer. Ninja Van's intern process moves quickly, and spots are filled on a rolling basis.
- Mention any logistics or operations experience. A part-time delivery job, a supply chain case competition, or a university project on operations management all provide relevant context.
What the Internship Is Like
Ninja Van internships are high-impact and startup-paced. Interns are embedded in real product and engineering teams with sprint commitments. SWE interns typically contribute to production services by week three. The data science team tackles genuinely hard optimisation problems — delivery routing at scale is a world-class computational challenge.
The culture is energetic, diverse, and collaborative. Ninja Van's Singapore team is multinational, reflecting the company's six-country footprint. All-hands meetings are frequent and leadership is accessible. The office at Pandan Road is spacious and has an operational energy — you can see the logistics network at work.
Working hours are typically 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with some flexibility. Operations and logistics roles may have earlier starts or later finishes during peak delivery seasons (11.11, 12.12, Ramadan).
Return Offers & Full-Time Conversion
Ninja Van converts approximately 40–55% of interns. As a Series E growth company, hiring depends on business performance, but strong performers in SWE and data science are consistently offered full-time roles. The company has a structured performance review at the end of the internship with clear feedback.
