PSA International Internship Guide
PSA International is the world's second-largest port operator, managing over 50 ports in 27 countries and handling over 90 million TEUs annually. Internships at PSA span technology, operations, data analytics, sustainability, and corporate functions. The PSA BrightSparks Internship Programme is one of the most distinctive engineering and technology internship experiences in Singapore.
PSA International: Internship Guide
PSA International (formerly Port of Singapore Authority) is a wholly Temasek-owned global port operator managing port operations in Asia, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East. Singapore's Tanjong Pagar, Brani, Keppel, and the new Tuas Port (the world's largest single-terminal automated port) are all PSA operations. PSA handled over 37 million TEUs through Singapore alone in 2024, making the Port of Singapore one of the world's busiest container ports. For students, PSA offers an internship at the heart of global supply chain infrastructure — a genuinely world-class operation that touches manufacturing, trade, and logistics for over 200 countries.
Key Internship Programmes
PSA BrightSparks Internship Programme — Eight to sixteen weeks. The flagship programme for engineering, computer science, data science, and business students.
Automation & Technology Internship — Focused on Tuas Port's automated systems: automated guided vehicles (AGVs), automated stacking cranes, and port operating systems. One of the most unique engineering environments in the world.
Data Analytics & AI Internship — Projects in vessel traffic prediction, yard optimisation, predictive maintenance, and supply chain analytics.
Sustainability Internship — PSA has committed to net-zero operations by 2050. Roles in carbon measurement, shore power adoption, and green logistics analytics.

Application Process & Timeline
- Online Application — internationalpsa.com/careers. Summer applications open December–March.

- Port Tour — Some tracks include a site visit to Tuas Port as part of the selection process.
- Offer — Two to four weeks after interview.
Tips to Get Selected
- Study Tuas Port. Tuas Port is a genuinely remarkable engineering achievement — the world's largest fully automated terminal. Understanding how automated ports work (AGVs, remote-controlled cranes, AI-optimised vessel scheduling) and why this matters for global trade demonstrates authentic interest.
- Know global supply chain dynamics. PSA's business is driven by global trade flows. Referencing current supply chain disruptions, near-shoring trends, or the Panama Canal's impact on routing decisions shows commercial awareness.
- For technology roles, familiarity with robotics systems, IoT sensor networks, or real-time systems programming is directly applicable to PSA's automation challenges. Mention any experience with ROS, embedded systems, or industrial control systems.
- Show long-term career interest. PSA is a GLC with a strong culture of employee development and retention. Showing that you see PSA as a long-term career destination (not just a stepping stone) is valued by interviewers.
- Reference PSA's global portfolio. PSA operates in Antwerp (PSA Antwerp), Genoa, Venice, and dozens of other global ports. Showing interest in international mobility and the global logistics business resonates with PSA's culture.
What the Internship Is Like
PSA internships are distinctive in offering access to world-class port infrastructure. Technology interns working on automation systems may visit Tuas Port and interact with live automated equipment. Data interns work with real vessel tracking and terminal operations data. Operations interns may spend time on the port itself (with safety briefings) to understand workflows.
The culture at PSA is engineering-focused, methodical, and mission-driven. The port is 24/7 infrastructure, which gives the organisation a culture of reliability and operational discipline. Mentorship quality varies by team but is generally strong for technology and operations roles.
Return Offers & Full-Time Conversion
PSA converts approximately 35–50% of interns into graduate roles. The PSA Graduate Programme is a structured development track with rotations across operations, technology, and commercial functions, and opportunities for overseas postings at PSA's international ports.
