Temasek Polytechnic Internship Guide
Temasek Polytechnic (TP) is known for its strengths in applied science, design, and information technology. Its work attachment programme is designed to give students genuine industry exposure before they graduate — and the results show in TP's high employment rates.
TP's Work Attachment Framework
TP's Industrial Attachment (IA) is compulsory for all full-time diploma students:
- Duration: 20–24 weeks (varies by school and diploma)
- Timing: Typically Year 3 Semester 1 (April–September)
- Credit: Pass/fail, graded by both academic tutor and industry supervisor
- Portal: TP's Career & Internship Portal (CIP)
The IA is assessed through a combination of a supervisor evaluation, a reflective report, and in some schools, a project presentation.
Flexible Credit Internships
Unique to TP, certain diplomas allow students to take additional flexible credit internships in Year 1 or Year 2 — short placements of 4–8 weeks that earn elective credits. These are:
- Competitive (limited slots)
- Useful for building your resume before the main IA
- Available in IT, business, and design schools
Apply through the CIP early in Year 2 if you want to pursue one of these placements.

Tips for Landing Competitive TP Internships
1. Use the CIP Portal Early Employer listings on TP's Career & Internship Portal refresh from February. The best-paying and most prestigious roles are gone within weeks. Log in on launch day.
2. Build a Portfolio for Design/IT Roles For IIT and SD students, a GitHub or Behance portfolio is effectively your resume. Employers at GovTech and tech companies shortlist on portfolio before looking at grades.
3. Attend TP's Internship Fair (March) TP hosts an annual fair where 80+ employers attend. Come prepared with printed resumes and specific questions about the role — generic questions waste your limited time with recruiters.
4. Consider Part-Time Roles in Year 2 TP allows part-time work that doesn't interfere with studies. Working 2–3 days a week in a related role before your formal IA significantly strengthens your application.
5. For Applied Science Students The pharmaceutical and biotech corridor (Tuas Biomedical Park) employs hundreds of TP applied science graduates. Sign up for TP's industry visit programme in Year 2 to get face time with hiring managers before applications open.
TP's employer network is strong and the polytechnic's reputation in applied science and IT is growing. Students who combine strong grades with a proactive approach to portfolio-building and early networking consistently secure the best placements.
