This guide walks you through every stage.
UBS Singapore: Internship Guide
UBS has been present in Singapore since 1967 and today Singapore functions as one of the world's largest private banking centres — a status UBS has helped to build. The firm's Asia Pacific headquarters are in Singapore, housing the regional leadership of Global Wealth Management (GWM) and the Investment Bank (IB). This means internships here carry genuine regional influence, not just local market exposure.

Tips to Get Selected
- Target the GWM track if you are interested in private banking. UBS's GWM internship is the best private banking training ground in Singapore. The wealth management industry offers more internship spots than IBD and is less oversubscribed at the application stage.
- Know UBS's ESG positioning. UBS has positioned itself as a sustainability leader in wealth management. Being able to discuss ESG integration in portfolios, UBS's 100% sustainable investing framework, or recent green bond mandates distinguishes candidates.
- Prepare for the scenario/role-play assessment. GWM final rounds often include a mock client conversation where you present an investment idea. Prepare one structured investment thesis on a thematic topic (e.g., ASEAN digital infrastructure, ageing population healthcare).
- For IBD, UBS is particularly strong in APAC ECM. Study recent UBS-led IPOs on SGX and HKEx.
- Polish your numerical reasoning. UBS's assessments are timed and above average in difficulty. Use SHL Direct or Graduates First to practise.
What the Internship Is Like
UBS Singapore runs one of the most well-regarded intern programmes in the city for wealth management. GWM interns are assigned to a client team and shadow advisors in client meetings (subject to client consent), review portfolio analytics, and build investment proposal decks. The private banking culture is client-centric and detail-oriented.
The Investment Bank intern experience is closer to the Goldman/Morgan Stanley model: live deal staffing, long hours, and high technical expectations. UBS runs a firm-wide "Intern Forum" where all interns present a project to senior management, and an "APAC CEO Town Hall" that interns attend.
Culture is described as professional and international. UBS's Singapore office has active D&I networks and runs a formal mentorship programme for interns.
Return Offers & Full-Time Conversion
UBS Singapore converts approximately 65–75% of Summer Interns. GWM conversion rates are relatively high as the firm invests heavily in building its advisor pipeline in Asia. Full-time offers are as Client Advisor Associates in GWM or Analysts in the Investment Bank, with start dates in July or September depending on the track.
