The Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) is seeking a passionate and driven Junior Performance Programme (JPP) Coach to join our high-performance coaching team based at the Singapore Sports School (SSP). This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced badminton coach to contribute to the development of Singapore’s emerging badminton talents within a structured junior high-performance environment. About the Role: • Reporting to the Junior Performance Programme Head Coach (JPHC) and working closely with the Junior Performance Programme Director (JPPD), the successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of training and competition programmes for student-athletes in the Junior Performance Programme. • The coach will be based primarily at Singapore Sports School and may be required to travel overseas for tournaments and training camps. Key Responsibilities – Coaching& Player Development: • Deliver daily coaching sessions • within the Junior Performance Programme. • Plan and execute structured annual, monthly, and weekly training programmes. • Prepare players for local and international competitions. • Conduct player performanceprofiling, evaluations, and yearly reviews. • Assist in planning tournaments andcompetition calendars. • Provide tournament coaching andon-site athlete support. • Support the development of astrong daily training and performance environment. • Mentor and guide players in character development, discipline, and professionalism. Programme & Team Collaboration: • Work collaboratively with the JPPD,JPHC, and the coaching team to implement player development strategies. • Contribute technical input and feedback towards the national junior development pathway. • Support recruitment, talent identification, and selection processes for incoming players. • Maintain positive communication and rapport with parents and stakeholders. • Foster a positive team culture aligned with programme goals and values. Sports Science & Administration: • Work closely with support staff from the Singapore High Performance Sports Institute (HPSI) to integrate sports science into training programmes. • Assist with fitness testing ,athlete monitoring, and maintenance of athlete records. • Prepare and submit player reports before, during, and after competitions. • Ensure training facilities and equipment are safe and properly maintained. • Support administrative duties and programme reporting requirements. Knowledge Sharing • Conduct at least one Coach Continuing Education (CCE) workshop for local coaches annually. Requirements– Experience & Qualifications: • Minimum 5 years of coaching experience in a competitive youth or high-performance environment. • Former playing experience preferred. • Experience working within a structured team environment. • Strong understanding of long-term athlete development principles. • Background in doubles coaching would be advantageous. Skills& Competencies • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a coaching team. • Good planning, administrative, and organizational skills. • Understanding of sports science applications in youth athlete development. • Ability to mentor and positively influence young athletes. • Proficiency in English
