Kitchen Assistant (Interns are welcome to apply)

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our Shiok Makan team as a Kitchen Assistant. As a kitchen assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our kitchen operations and ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. This opportunity is perfect for those who have a passion for culinary arts and are looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment in a start-up company with huge growth potential. We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate initiative and possess strong teamwork skills. Responsibilities: • Assist in meal preparation, including chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients. • Portion food accordingly and store them in assigned containers and areas to keep them fresh. • Clean and sanitize kitchen utensils, equipment, and workstations. • Help with inventory management and restocking supplies. • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, including washing dishes and sweeping/mopping floors. • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and accurate meal service. • Demonstrate initiative by actively seeking out additional tasks and taking on new challenges. • Work effectively as part of a team, contributing ideas and supporting fellow team members. • Take direction from the head chef and other senior kitchen staff. • Other ad-hoc duties that may be assigned. Requirements: • Passion for food and cooking. • Possess food handler certificate (preferred, but not required) • Candidates with no experience are welcome to apply as training, but with willingness to learn, are also welcome to apply as training will be provided. • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent teamwork and communication skills with a positive attitude. • Proactive attitude with the ability to take initiative and suggest improvements. • Willingness to learn and contribute to a collaborative work environment. • Enjoy interacting with people. • Able to work independently. • Shift work: Weekdays: 10am – 3pm, 3pm- 8.30pm • Full-timer: 5 day work week Weekdays: 10am – 8.30pm.
