About this role
SJI International Elementary School is seeking a passionate, collaborative, and bilingual Learning Support Teacher to join our vibrant team starting in January 2027. The role involves working with students aged 4 to 12 years through in-class support and individualised pull-out interventions. We require a teacher who has experience supporting learning needs in both English and Chinese. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering differentiated learning strategies to meet diverse student needs across both languages. Experience in a similar learning support role is advantageous, and familiarity with inclusive education practices in a bilingual context is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be someone who is able to collaborate closely with colleagues, manage planning time effectively, and show flexibility and creativity. Applicants should respect and appreciate the school’s Catholic Lasallian identity, although they are not required to share the same faith. Primary Responsibility: To design and deliver high-quality Learning Support interventions through a dual-language (Chinese/English) model. The primary focus is to identify and address additional learning needs for students in both languages—ensuring a strong foundation in language screening and targeted support to empower all learners to thrive holistically and achieve their full potential within the supportive ethos of SJI International, while upholding the highest standards of safeguarding and student well-being. Specific Responsibilities: Teaching and Learning: • Deliver targeted individual and small-group learning interventions in both English and Chinese to support diverse student needs. • Collaborate with homeroom and specialist teachers to design, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs). • Provide expert guidance to classroom teachers on effective differentiation, scaffolding, and bilingual support strategies • Create a stimulating, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment that features bilingual resources. Assessment, Recording and Reporting: • Lead the early identification and screening of learning needs, specifically utilising Chinese diagnostic tools and assessments alongside English standardised frameworks. • Collect, analyse, and maintain accurate assessment data to monitor student progress and evaluate intervention metrics. • Keep comprehensive, confidential student records in alignment with school data protection policies. • Communicate transparently and regularly with parents regarding screening outcomes, IEP targets, and overall progress. Standards and Quality Assurance: • Support the strategic goals of the Student Success team and align bilingual support initiatives with the school improvement plan. • Actively engage in the school's Professional Reflection and Development (PRD) cycle promote continuous personal and professional growth. • Participate in standardisation and moderation processes to ensure consistency of support across all year groups. Other Duties and Responsibilities • Contribute significantly to the service, sport, and activity programmes, demonstrating a commitment to students' holistic growth and building positive relationships beyond the classroom. • Be an advocate of the school and its decisions during interactions with students, staff, and the community. • Lead in nurturing a Lasallian Catholic ethos by building upon the legacy and tradition of the school firmly anchored in Faith, Service, Community, Excellence and Respect. • Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and students. • Be a role model within the school in terms of professional expertise and conduct and lead by example. • Treat others fairly and with respect in order to create and maintain a positive school culture. • Build a collaborative learning culture within the school and manage innovation and change. • Take on specific tasks related to the day-to-day administration and organisation of the school as requested by the Principal or SLT. Qualifications and Skills • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or related field; Master’s degree preferred. • Professional teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, DipEd). • Complete fluency in spoken and written Chinese and English. • Practical experience screening learning needs specifically using Chinese screening tools.
