La Petite Ecole in Singapore is an international primary school accredited by the French Ministry of national Education and offering a plurilingual educational approach in accordance with the French national curriculum. The school currently counts around 180 students from N1 to G5. La Petite Ecole in Singapore is a member of French international educational group Odyssey, specialising in French education abroad with 12 schools across 11 countries. Duties: • Teaching in French the French Curriculum to primary school students • Sharing the class with your English and Mandrin speaking counterparts, planning the programme for the week together • Closely monitoring the children and their learning progression, and reporting this information to the school director and to the families accurately • Coordinating with the classroom • Contributing to the development of a special pedagogical project across school, in line with the school project and the French curriculum • Teaching the “Activités Pédagogiques Complémentaires” (APC) according to the schedule provided by the School • Supervising morning breaks and/or afternoon breaks according to the schedule provided by the School • Attending the team meetings according to the schedule provided by the School; • Participating in the school’s events outside of teaching time (i.e. end of year fair, open house and gardening days), and that may occur over the weekend • Liaising with children’s parents whenever requested (incl. regular parent-teacher meetings scheduled twice a year) • Reporting to the School Principal Normal working hours in the classroom (exclusive of preparation time and meetings) for a full-time position, as reference only: • Monday to Thursday: 8.15am-3.45pm • Friday: 8.15am-1pm Job Requirements: • Holder of the French diploma in Early Childhood (titulaire du diplôme de Professeur des Ecoles) or Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education – Teaching (DECCE-T) or above qualification • Minimum 2 years work experience as a teacher • Fluent in French and English languages • Excellent communication and classroom management skills to work together with the team on common projects and understand and support the children who have difficulties • Good knowledge of new technologies to work in class and in the team • Flexible and a real team player • Open-minded and able to think outside the box • Proactive and dynamic • Willing to develop pedagogical projects, in line with the school yearly project Factors or professional experience that will stand out in your application: • A teaching experience in a multilingual environment is preferable, in order to better understand and assimilate the unique language situations of each student; • A practical experience of the use of communication skills through trainings / workshops or projects (drama, discussion sessions / debates…) would be a plus; • Good knowledge of English language necessary to communicate with the team and parents; • Any additional experience that could be an asset to the children (i.e. a sport or an artistic activity) will be considered.
