About this role
What you'll do: As a Project Engineer based in Singapore’s vibrant manufacturing sector, you will be entrusted with overseeing complex capital projects from their earliest stages through to successful completion. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating across multiple departments—such as production, supply chain management, quality assurance, safety compliance, engineering design—and engaging with external contractors or suppliers. You will be responsible for developing detailed plans that outline scope, budgetary constraints, scheduling milestones, resource allocation strategies as well as risk mitigation approaches. Throughout each phase of the project lifecycle—from conceptualisation through engineering design to installation and commissioning—you will ensure that all activities adhere strictly to established safety protocols and factory standards. Your ability to manage stakeholder expectations while maintaining meticulous documentation will be crucial in achieving seamless handovers upon project completion. By driving plant optimisation initiatives alongside routine upgrades or expansions of production lines or utilities infrastructure you will contribute directly towards enhancing operational efficiency within a dynamic team-oriented environment. • Support the annual capital expenditure planning process by developing comprehensive project charters for approved initiatives that align with organisational objectives. • Define clear project scopes, objectives, budgets, schedules, and resource requirements to ensure successful project execution from inception to completion. • Prepare detailed project documentation including charters, cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, progress reports, and close-out materials to maintain transparency throughout the project lifecycle. • Monitor project expenditures diligently to ensure effective cost control measures are implemented at every stage of the process. • Develop robust engineering solutions and layouts that strictly comply with safety regulations, hygiene protocols, quality benchmarks, and manufacturing standards. • Coordinate civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and utility requirements for new installations by liaising with relevant stakeholders both internally and externally. • Review technical specifications thoroughly to guarantee all engineering deliverables meet or exceed internal compliance standards. • Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and equipment vendors during project implementation to ensure seamless integration of new systems into existing operations. • Oversee procurement processes for equipment as well as original equipment manufacturer (OEM) activities and installation works to facilitate timely project progression. • Lead commissioning efforts including testing and start-up activities while coordinating closely with operations, maintenance, quality assurance, and engineering teams during handover. What you bring: To excel as a Project Engineer in this role you will draw upon extensive experience gained within large-scale manufacturing environments where you have successfully managed complex capital projects from conception through execution. Your educational background in an engineering discipline equips you with the technical foundation necessary for developing innovative solutions tailored specifically towards improving plant performance or expanding production capabilities. Beyond technical proficiency you possess exceptional interpersonal skills which allow you to foster collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams—ensuring alignment on shared goals while navigating competing priorities effectively. Your attention to detail when preparing documentation combined with your commitment towards upholding rigorous safety standards positions you as a dependable partner throughout every stage of the project lifecycle. Additionally your familiarity with industry-specific regulations such as GMP or SHE requirements enables you to anticipate potential challenges proactively thereby safeguarding both operational integrity and regulatory compliance. • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a closely related discipline is required for this role. • You bring 8–12 years of proven experience in manufacturing project engineering or managing capital expenditure projects within industrial settings. • Demonstrated success in delivering factory expansion projects or leading equipment installation initiatives within fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), food manufacturing or pharmaceutical environments is highly desirable. • A thorough understanding of manufacturing operations coupled with deep knowledge of relevant engineering standards and stringent safety requirements is essential. • Experience managing contractors as well as building productive relationships with suppliers and external vendors forms a core part of your skill set. • Familiarity with recognised project management methodologies along with strong command over project controls ensures effective oversight throughout each phase of delivery. • Excellent communication skills enable you to provide regular updates to key stakeholders while facilitating smooth collaboration between cross-functional teams. • Exposure to multinational manufacturing environments enhances your ability to adapt best practices across diverse operational contexts. • Hands-on experience in end-to-end management of CAPEX projects—including equipment procurement through commissioning—is highly advantageous. • Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), food safety protocols or SHE (Safety Health Environment) requirements would further strengthen your application.
