job Summary The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs relating to construction projects, from initial calculations to final accounts. The role ensures projects are completed within budget while maintaining quality and compliance. Responsibilities • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents to support project planning and procurement • Develop and manage Bill of Quantities (BQ) to accurately quantify project materials and costs • Evaluate contractor bids to support procurement decisions and ensure competitive pricing • Monitor project costs continuously and prepare cost reports and forecasts to track financial performance • Manage variation orders and claims to control project scope changes and associated costs • Conduct site measurements and valuations to verify work progress and payment claims • Ensure compliance with contractual and legal requirements to mitigate risks and uphold standards • Provide expert advice on cost control and value engineering to optimize project expenditure • Prepare final accounts and project financial summaries to close out projects accurately Required competencies and certifications • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field • Proficiency in Excel and cost management software to analyze and report financial data • Strong knowledge of construction costs and contracts to manage project budgets effectively Preferred competencies and qualifications • Experience with BIM-based quantity take-off to enhance accuracy in quantity measurement • Knowledge of standard forms of contracts (e.g., FIDIC) to support contract administration • Professional certification (e.g., RICS, SISV in Singapore) to demonstrate industry-recognized expertise
