About this role
Research assistant in “Quantum sensing engineer” The Nanyang Quantum Solutions team led by Prof. Marek Gluza at NTU Singapore is seeking a new member to propose new engineering solutions for table top setup prototyping the translation of dynamic quantum algorithms such as double-bracket algorithmic cooling to applications in quantum sensing using NV centers. With whom? With Prof. Marek Gluza at NTU Singapore who is eager to debate with you whether NMR-type readout will be sufficient for the technological applications we have in mind. The research group is being formed and see https://marekgluza.github.io/ for the intended culture centered on the idea of serving experimental efforts through theoretical support developing quantum middleware solutions. Key Responsibilities: • Propose feasibility and cost analysis of a table top NV center readout setup using commercially available lasers and microwave resonators. • Propose readout solutions and techniques for quantum sensor use in material science fabrication pipelines. • Translate dynamic quantum algorithms such as double-bracket agorithmic cooling into actionable protocols in NV center ensembles. Job Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, physics, computer science or related field • Knowledge in engineering, e.g. laser, mechanical or electrical engineering • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Proficiency in Ansys and related packages • Ability to work independently, develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details, excellent organizational and time management skills. Supplementing a cover letter: As part of our merit-based hiring, we recognize that potential isn’t always reflected in traditional metrics. We invite all applicants to contextualize their journey in a personally written cover letter. This helps us evaluate your prospective potential alongside your existing abilities; see the guide for applicants for more information. Applicants from underrepresented groups or those from countries affected by crises are particularly encouraged to provide one (please do not rely on AI to generate it). We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
