Research Engineer (1-year contract), SCIS

RESPONSIBILITIES • This position is for School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS). • Design and implement AI for software engineering solutions. • Conduct evaluations and/or user studies to validate the effectiveness of the algorithms and tools. • Write and publish research papers and present them to reputable academic conferences. • Package the documents, implementation code, evaluation results of the project for public release. • Liaise with other team members of this project to realize the overall goal of the project. • Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline (e.g., Computer Engineering, Physics). • 3+ years of industry experience in CI/CD automation, big data pipeline, and/or applied AI/ML • Prior experience in vulnerability reporting and fixing, demonstrated by concrete accepted pull requests. • Highly fluent in Python and SQL; competent in at least one additional language (e.g., C++). • Demonstrated experience building and optimizing end-to-end data/ML pipelines. • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and big data tools. • Competent in designing and implementing algorithms and data structures. • Practical experience applying ML/AI techniques in production environments. • Excellent knowledge about software engineering and artificial intelligence. • Competent in designing and implementing algorithms and data structures. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Excellent analytical, technical and problem-solving skills. • Self-motivated individual who can work independently and also collaboratively with team members. • Able to work under strict deadlines.
