Research Fellow (CSCB/NT)

Job description The Duke-NUS Cancer and Stem Cell Biology (CSCB) Programme studies the causes and treatments of cancer and related diseases. The CSCB research groups have diverse programmes in both basic cancer biology and clinical-translational studies, with a special emphasis on cancers that affect the Asian community in general. A/Prof Nicholas Tolwinski is seeking a Research Fellow to conduct large-scale dataset analysis using machine learning approaches. Our dynamic and growing research group focuses on understanding signal transduction biology and developing interventions to improve health span and quality of life. • Oversee data collection from molecular and cell biology experiments under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his designate. • Conduct RNA sequencing analysis and related bioinformatics workflows. • Develop biological clock models and computational frameworks. • Contribute to de novo antibody design using computational approaches. • Support the development and application of large language models (LLMs) in research. • Prepare and review research manuscripts; present findings at scientific meetings. • Conceptualise new research ideas and develop independent research plans with potential for significant impact and funding. • Provide support for external grant/protocol development, study design and management of research activities. • Contribute to occasional educational / instructional activities and project management. • Provide guidance and mentorship to undergraduate / medical students and research assistants. • Maintain optimal experiment progress in the laboratory or in the research work undertaken. • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein. Job Requirements • PhD and/or post-graduate medical degree with at least 3 years’ relevant research experience and training. • Entry-level candidates may also be considered. • Strong knowledge of genetics and molecular biology techniques. • Proven track record in the form of high-impact publications. • Demonstrated progressive capability in research independence. • Strong writing and critical thinking skills, as well as good communication and presentation skills. • A team player who is able to prioritize, multitask, and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.
