Job DescriptionThe National University of Singapore invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a research program in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, focused on bacteriophage biology and pathogenicity islands that parasitize phages. The Department is internationally recognized for interdisciplinary research into virology, bacteriology, protistology, and anti-infectives (https://medicine.nus.edu.sg/mbio/). Appointments will be made on a one-year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension. Purpose of the post The Research Fellow (RF) will work closely with the Principal Investigator and be responsible for leading a semi-independent project. Main duties and responsibilities The Research Fellow will be able to: • Oversee the general management of the project; • Provide administrative and secretarial support to the project; • Undertake the day-to-day running of the project at the study site; • Conduct literature searches, as well as assist in preparing both progress and final reports of the project; • Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures; • Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI. Qualifications• The applicant should: • Have a PhD degree in Microbiology or Life Sciences; • be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail; • have knowledge of computer applications, e.g. SPSS, MS office, PowerPoint; • have a strong graduate publication record; • have expertise in molecular biology, bacteriology, microbial genetics; • must be able to communicate well in English.
