About this role
Job Scope: 1. Supervision & Discipline Prevention • Serve as a visible adult presence in high-movement areas and conduct systematic patrols during recess, lunch breaks, and lesson transitions. • Maintain supervisory presence in the canteen and Multi-Purpose Hall during daily recess periods. • Support proactive discipline strategies and assist in simple peer reconciliation or mediation (where appropriate). 2. Late coming monitoring • Record latecomers arriving after 07:30am • Manage latecomers data. 3. In-House Suspension Support • Help establish a structured environment for suspended students to support learning continuity during suspension. • Guide students through structured reflective activities and support their transition back into the classroom environment. 4. Investigative & Case Support • Assist in conducting preliminary investigations and fact-finding interviews. • Obtain student and witness statements where appropriate. • Compile evidence and prepare structured incident reports to relevant Key Personnel for directions. 5. Data Management • Collate and manage discipline-related data, including latecoming records, discipline statements, and other relevant documentation. 6. Deployment & Reporting • The DSO will report operationally to the Student Development Committee. • The deployment schedule will be determined by the school in accordance with the termly school timetable and school events 7. Performance Expectations The DSO is expected to: • demonstrate professionalism, discretion and good judgement. • engage students respectfully and constructively. • uphold confidentiality and procedural fairness. • collaborate effectively with teachers and Key personnel. Requirements: 1. Working Experience • The Personnel should ideally have prior working experience in a uniformed service background (e.g. Singapore Police Force, Singapore Prison Service, or equivalent), should have at least 3 years of experience, and with involvement in youth-related case investigation, behavioural support, and restorative work. 2. Core Competencies • The Personnel should possess the following competencies: o Conflict management, de-escalation, and calm and proportionate behavioural intervention o Sound judgement, discretion and professionalism o Strong communication and interpersonal skills o Accurate incident observation, documentation, and record management • Proficiency in basic data entry and management, including organising and updating simple Excel spreadsheets 3. Engagement Disposition and Professional Conduct • The Personnel should demonstrate a firm yet respectful approach when working with students, with the ability to build rapport while upholding expectations. • Cultural sensitivity and awareness of the school environment are important, as is a collaborative working style with teachers. • The Personnel is expected to uphold confidentiality, procedural fairness, and professional conduct in all interactions with students and staff. 4. Values & Professional Ethics • The Personnel should be aligned with a care-based and restorative approach to discipline, with a genuine belief in student growth and developmental support. • The Personnel should demonstrate empathy and compassion in youth work, alongside professional maturity, reliability, and respect for student dignity.
