About this role
The Veritas NetBackup Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of enterprise backup and recovery environments. The role requires strong technical expertise in Veritas NetBackup, storage technologies, and backup infrastructure to ensure data protection, business continuity, and compliance across critical systems. Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and support Veritas NetBackup environments across physical, virtual, and cloud platforms. Perform daily monitoring of backup jobs, restore requests, alerts, and system health. Troubleshoot backup failures, catalog issues, media server problems, and network connectivity issues. Carry out backup policy configuration, scheduling, retention management, and storage lifecycle management. Manage backup appliances, media servers, master servers, storage units, and tape libraries where applicable. Perform regular restore testing and disaster recovery validation. Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and storage teams for backup and recovery requirements. Maintain documentation for backup architecture, procedures, incident resolution, and changes. Ensure backup compliance with organizational security, audit, and retention standards. Analyze performance issues and recommend improvements to backup efficiency and reliability. Support patching, upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning for NetBackup infrastructure. Provide L2/L3 support for complex backup and recovery incidents. Work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve product or infrastructure issues. Required Skills and ExperienceMinimum 10 years of experience in backup administration and enterprise data protection. • Strong hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup architecture and operations. • Good understanding of Linux and/or Windows server environments. • Knowledge of storage technologies, SAN/NAS, deduplication, and backup appliances. • Experience with virtualized environments such as VMware and Hyper-V. • Familiarity with cloud backup integration is an added advantage. • Strong problem-solving, incident management, and communication skills. • Ability to work independently and handle critical production environments. Preferred Experience• Experience in backup migration, upgrade, and large-scale enterprise environments. • Exposure to disaster recovery planning and implementation. • Knowledge of scripting for automation and reporting. • Experience working in 24x7 support or managed services environments.
