JOB TITLE: WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH OFFICER (WSHO)Project Type: Addition & Alteration (A&A) Work Schedule: 5.5 days work week About the RoleWe are seeking a registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) to oversee safety operations for our ongoing A&A project. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing safety in active building environments (hospitals, hotels, or occupied premises preferred), but we welcome applicants of all experience levels. Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Compliance & Enforcement • Ensure full compliance with the WSH Act, Environmental Public Health Act, and all MOM regulations. • Conduct regular site inspections to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and environmental non-conformances. • Apply for necessary permits (e.g., hot work, lifting, confined space) and ensure all sub-contractors adhere to safe work procedures. Risk Management (A&A Specific) • Lead risk assessments (RA) and develop Safe Work Procedures (SWP) for high-risk A&A activities: structural demolition, facade retention, overhead crane operations, and working in partial occupancy zones. • Manage risks associated with working around existing building services (live electrical, water pipes, gas lines). Incident Management & Investigation • Lead investigation for all near-misses, dangerous occurrences, and accidents. • Prepare MOM incident reports and recommend corrective/preventive actions. Training & Promotion • Conduct daily toolbox meetings and weekly safety inductions, emphasizing A&A hazards (falling debris, dust control, noise, existing utilities). • Maintain WSH records, statistics, and safety data sheets (SDS). Emergency Preparedness • Develop and conduct emergency response drills (fire, evacuation, structural collapse) suitable for a constrained A&A site. RequirementsMandatory: • Must be a registered WSHO with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Singapore (valid registration number required). • Valid First-Aider and CERT trainer certification (preferred). • Ability to read construction drawings and identify structural vs. non-structural elements. Experience: • Minimum 3 years of post-registration experience, with at least 2 years on A&A, renovation, or retrofitting projects is preferred. • Candidates without the required experience are still welcome to apply. Only fully registered WSHOs will be considered (no trainees/aspirants). Work Schedule: • 5.5 days work week (Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 6:00pm, Saturday: 8:00am – 1:00pm). • Must be willing to work on-site full-time (no remote/hybrid). Soft Skills: • Strong communication skills to manage conflict between contractors and building occupants. • Proactive, hands-on, and able to stop work immediately when unsafe conditions arise. Compensation• Competitive salary commensurate with experience. • For candidates without the required A&A experience: Salary will be adjusted according to your current level of experience and competency, with a clear progression plan as you gain project exposure.
