About this role
The Behavioural Therapist is responsible for supporting neurodiverse students to achieve their social, emotional, behavioural, and learning goals within an inclusive international school environment. Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and specialist staff, the role focuses on implementing evidence-based behavioural strategies, developing individual support plans, promoting positive behaviour, and enhancing students’ independence, regulation, and engagement in school life. The Behavioural Therapist plays a key role in ensuring students are supported holistically, enabling them to access the curriculum, build meaningful relationships, and thrive academically and personally. Job Description: 1. Behavioural Support§ Implement behavioural interventions for students with intensive and complex needs. These include Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and, other intensive and individualised interventions for students with complex social-emotional needs. § Provide support and guidance to staff on implementation of BSPs. § Provide ongoing and direct feedback to staff who are implementing interventions for students. § Support teachers/team to collect data on BSPs and monitors progress to help identify student need, adjust interventions and report progress to parents and staff members. § Conduct the Functional Behavioural Assessment (FBA) process(including interviews, direct classroom observations and all necessary documentation) in order to create effective BSPs. § Provide behavioural crisis response across school, in line with “SOS roster” set by the department and/or ad hoc requirements. § To hold responsibility for Pastoral Care programmes as part of the Department’s service delivery, including programme planning timelines and administration, including the delivery of a Social-Emotional Learning curriculum in school classrooms. § To collaborate with the therapy and teaching teams to ensure understanding of student social-emotional and behavioural strengths and needs through evaluation, educational program planning, and delivery. Work in a trans-disciplinary manner with pastoral colleagues to ensure the students’ emotional and wellbeing needs are met. § Conduct observations and provide written feedback during screening for students on trial for an average of 2 students per week if behaviour concerns are reported. § Formulating and conducting individual sessions (short-term) for students with behavioural challenges across the school. This will include scheduling, communication with internal team, parents and external professionals, as well as all related documentation. § Formulating and conducting behaviour groups (1 per term) with 2-4 students with similar challenges in behaviour. Orientation, Supervision and Education § Participate in regular multidisciplinary meetings (as required) to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individualized education plans and intervention plans to achieve specific short term and long-term goals § Educate and train parents, teachers and other professionals including in-service training and workshops. § Keep abreast of current ethical practice and current diagnostic criteria. § Facilitate orientation of new Behaviour Therapists. 3. Safety, Policies and Procedures § Ensure familiarity with TWS’s safeguarding policy § Obtain certification in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Safety Intervention or other relevant crisis management training certification during the course of the year. 4. Documentation and Communication § Provide documented and consistent communication to parents, caregivers and professionals. § Complete behaviour incident reports on a daily basis, as necessary, within 24 hours of the incident. Details of incident to be communicated to parent via email/TEAMs within 24 hours of the incident. § Maintain up-to-date (shared) documentation in each student profile corresponding to Pastoral Care services received in the school year, updated at the end of each term. § Maintain updated clinical documentation for each student on caseload within the Pastoral & Counselling drives. 5. Other Duties § Attend and contribute to staff meetings as required. § Plan and facilitate focus groups during summer breaks, where required. § Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, and school information at all times. § Demonstrate professional, ethical, and respectful conduct in all aspects of the role. § Comply with The Winstedt School policies, procedures, and operational standards. § Develop professional knowledge and expertise through ongoing learning and participation in relevant professional development activities. § Work collaboratively and effectively within the team and with students, teachers, and other stakeholders. § Contribute to service development, review, and continuous improvement initiatives within the team. § Any other duties as assigned and required by the Director of Therapy and Pastoral Care. Requirements: § Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or a related field. § Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in an international school, educational, or clinical setting. § BCBA or BCaBA certification preferred. § Experience in planning and delivering individual and group behavioural intervention sessions. § Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies, inclusive practices, and differentiated support approaches. § Experience in assessment, progress monitoring, and using data to inform interventions. § Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, Google Classroom, and educational technology platforms. § Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and external professionals. § Strong organisational, problem-solving, and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities. § High level of professionalism, resilience, adaptability, integrity, and commitment to safeguarding and student well-being.
