Job Description: Pastoral Support Officer (PSO) Role Purpose The Pastoral Support Officer (PSO) plays a key role within the Student Management Committee in supporting students with additional needs, including guiding students presenting behavioral issues. This work is done in close partnership with School Leaders and Middle Managers in the Student Development Team, as well as with teachers, the Student Manager, and Student Development Officer. Key Responsibilities 1. Support School’s Student Management and Development Operations Lead investigations into cases of student misconduct. Recommend and implement follow-up actions for misconduct in line with school policy, with application of Restorative Practice. Support teachers in managing students’ behavioral and peer-relationship issues, including coaching of students. Partner parents/guardians on issues of student misconduct to align follow-up and support at school and at home. Partner external agencies, including the Singapore Police Force, the Ministry of Social and Family Development, and Family Service Centers, for complex cases. Serve as first responder for student management incidents, including disruptive classroom behavior. Supervise students placed on student management and development programs (e.g. detention; in-school suspension; corrective work; GEAR-UP) and guide students through coaching during those programs. •Review disciplinary trends and suggest proactive character development initiatives to the Student Development Team. •Leverage the school’s Student Activities Centres for student guidance programmes. 3. Administrative & Integrated Support •Maintain detailed case files on student interventions to ensure continuity of care. •Provide other support as required by School Leaders. Job Requirements Candidate should be able to balance the "firmness" of discipline with the "warmth" of developmental support, with the following criteria: Requirement Traits-Patience and a genuine passion for student mentorship. Soft Skills. Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Possess very good interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with students and parents Experience Shall have minimum 3 years of experience working with youth, preferably in an educational or social service setting. Technical-Proficient in Microsoft Office for reporting and tracking student progress.
