About the RoleA secondary school in Bukit Batok is seeking a Youth Worker to support student well-being, behaviour guidance, and intervention programmes. The successful candidate will work closely with the school’s Student Development Team, Year Heads, Form Teachers, parents, and external agencies to support students who may require additional guidance and structured intervention. Key ResponsibilitiesDuring Curriculum Hours, 8.00am to 1.00pm• Manage the student room or centre for students undergoing restorative programmes, in-school suspension, or detention. • Supervise detention sessions, including attendance-taking and ensuring students complete assigned reflection tasks. • Conduct one-to-one interviews, reflection sessions, and regular check-ins with students. • Facilitate small-group activities such as circle time, journaling, and goal-setting to support students’ social-emotional development. • Support programmes relating to peer relationships, stress management, and self-esteem. • Work closely with the Student Development Team, Year Heads, and Form Teachers to support students with higher needs. • Provide practical strategies to teachers for managing students who require additional support. • Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary discussions, where required. • Liaise with and update parents on matters relating to student behaviour, attendance, and intervention. • Coordinate with external agencies, including FSCs, MSF, ComLink, and VWOs, in consultation with the school. After Curriculum Hours, 2.00pm to 4.00pm• Support the facilitation of group work, intervention, or enrichment programmes. • Assist in supervising students involved in detention, restorative practices, or intervention programmes. • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records in accordance with school requirements. • Perform other duties as agreed with the school to support student well-being. Requirements• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Education, Youth Work, or a related field. • At least 1 to 2 years of experience in school-based support work, youth work, or related educational settings. • Experience working with adolescents or at-risk youth in preventive or intervention programmes. • Experience liaising with parents, schools, and community agencies. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to supervise and manage students in structured settings. • Ability to facilitate small-group sessions and student reflection conversations. • Good documentation and record-keeping skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic student management systems. Preferred• Training in counselling, restorative practices, or youth engagement. • Familiarity with MSF frameworks and school-based case management. • MOE REMS registration, or willingness to register prior to deployment.
