Role: Cloud Engineer (VMware & Nutanix) Location: LAVENDAR/KALLANG Standby: Required Type of Role: Contract (JULY 2026 - MARCH 2027) [RENEWABLE] Remuneration: Base Salary - $5,450 Renumeration: 1 month bonus upon completion of contract (subjected to attendance, performance etc..) START: JULY 2026 Project Overview: This Scope of Work defines the roles and responsibilities of the Cloud Engineer responsible for managing virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure platforms, specifically VMware and Nutanix. The objective is to ensure high availability, scalability, performance, and security of the virtual infrastructure supporting business applications. Objectives: • Maintain a resilient and highly available virtual infrastructure. • Optimise performance and resource utilisation across clusters. • Ensure secure and compliant virtual environments. • Support automation, scalability, and cloud-like operations. • Deliver efficient provisioning and lifecycle management. Scope of Services: VMware Infrastructure Management • Deploy, configure, and manage VMware environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) • Manage clusters, resource pools, and virtual machines (VMs) • Configure and maintain HA, DRS, and vMotion. • Perform lifecycle management (patching, upgrades, firmware coordination) • Manage templates, snapshots, and VM provisioning. Nutanix Infrastructure Management • Deploy and maintain Nutanix AOS and AHV environments. • Manage clusters using Nutanix Prism (Element/Central) • Provision and manage virtual machines and storage containers. • Configure and maintain HA, live migration, and storage policies. • Perform cluster expansion, upgrades, and health monitoring. Virtual Infrastructure Operations • Monitor system health, performance, and capacity across platforms. • Manage compute, memory, and storage allocation. • Ensure workload balancing and optimal utilisation. • Proactively identify and resolve performance issues. Backup, Recovery & Data Protection • Integrate VMware and Nutanix environments with backup solutions. • Manage VM-level backups and replication. • Perform restore operations (file-level, VM-level, full recovery) • Conduct periodic recovery and DR testing. Security & Compliance • Implement hypervisor and VM-level security hardening. • Manage role-based access control (RBAC) • Ensure secure configuration of management interfaces. • Apply patches and vulnerability remediation. • Support audits and compliance standards. Automation & Orchestration • Develop automation scripts (PowerCLI, REST APIs, Ansible, etc.) • Streamline VM provisioning and lifecycle management. • Integrate with ITSM and orchestration platforms. Incident & Problem Management • Provide support for virtualization-related issues. • Troubleshoot VM, host, and cluster issues. • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for major incidents. • Collaborate with network, storage, and system teams. Capacity Planning & Optimisation • Monitor resource usage trends and forecast capacity needs. • Recommend scaling strategies (vertical/horizontal expansion) • Optimise storage policies, deduplication, and compression. • Improve workload placement and efficiency. Documentation & Reporting • Maintain architecture diagrams and cluster configurations. • Document operational procedures and best practices. • Produce reports on performance, capacity, and incidents. • Update knowledge base and operational runbook. Deliverables • Virtual infrastructure design and configuration documentation. • VM provisioning and lifecycle records. • Backup and recovery reports. • Capacity and utilisation reports. • Incident reports and RCA documents. • DR plans and test results. Roles & Responsibilities: Cloud Engineer • Manage VMware and Nutanix environments end-to-end. • Ensure performance, availability, and security compliance. • Provide proactive recommendations and continuous improvements. Tools & Technologies • VMware: vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, SRM, vSAN. • Nutanix: AOS, AHV, Prism, Leap, Calm. • Automation: PowerCLI, Ansible. • Backup: Commvault. • Monitoring: vRealize, Ari, Vrin. Service Levels • VM provisioning turnaround: within agreed SLA (e.g., 1–2 days) • Incident response: a) P1: within 1 hour b) P2: within 4 hours Timeline • Infrastructure assessment and onboarding. • Implementation / migration phase. • Stabilisation phase. • Steady-state operations and optimisation. Change Management • All changes to the virtual infrastructure must follow formal change management procedures, including risk assessment, testing, approvals, and rollback planning. Requirements: • Minimum ITE/Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or relevant disciplines. • Minimum 2 years’ experience in managing virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure platforms, specifically VMware and Nutanix. • Applicants' in possession of VMware and Nutanix certifications only will be considered.
