About this role
Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled IT/OT Lead to drive industrial data integration, connectivity, and digital transformation across pharmaceutical manufacturing environments. The role will focus on implementing scalable industrial data platforms using AVEVA OSI PI, MQTT (HiveMQ, Sparkplug), Kepware, and Ignition, enabling real-time visibility, analytics, and smart factory initiatives. Key ResponsibilitiesIT/OT Architecture & Digital Strategy• Define and implement IT/OT convergence architecture • Design unified data flow from shopfloor (OT) → enterprise IT systems • Lead Industry 4.0 initiatives leveraging: MQTT (HiveMQ, Sparkplug B), Edge-to-cloud data pipelines, Unified namespace (UNS) architecture 2. Industrial Data Platform Implementation• Lead deployment and support of: AVEVA OSI PI (PI AF, PI Vision, PI Interfaces), Ignition (SCADA, HMI, Edge Gateway) • Build scalable real-time data infrastructures for analytics and reporting • Ensure high availability, performance, and zero data loss 3. Connectivity & Edge Integration• Implement device and system connectivity using: Kepware (OPC UA, device drivers, industrial protocols) PLCs, SCADA, DCS (DeltaV, etc.) • Integrate plant systems using: OPC UA/DAMQTT (HiveMQ broker with Sparkplug B) • Enable plug-and-play integration for factory equipment and IoT devices 4. MQTT & Unified Namespace (UNS) Enablement• Design and implement MQTT-based architectures • Configure and manage: HiveMQ broker infrastructure, Sparkplug B specification for stateful data communication • Establish enterprise-wide Unified Namespace (UNS) for real-time data sharing • Ensure scalable, decoupled, and event-driven data architecture 5. Historian & Data Management• Manage and optimize OSI PI and/or Aspen IP21 historian systems • Build contextualized asset models using PI AF • Develop dashboards, reports, and analytics pipelines • Ensure data integrity, governance, and audit readiness (GxP) 6. Cybersecurity & Compliance• Implement OT security best practices: Network segmentation, Secure MQTT architecture (TLS, authentication) • Ensure compliance with: GMP / GxP / 21 CFR Part 11 Data integrity standards • Conduct security risk assessments for IT/OT environments Requirements• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or any related degree or discipline • More than 10 years experience delivering data integration and MES solutions across large scale projects • At least 6 years of data integration and MES solution experience in Pharmaceutical CAPEX projects • Certified in Aspen and OSI PI Date historian • Proven experience end-to-end equipment data integration (PLC, delta process equipment, benchtop instruments) for pharmaceutical CAPEX projects • Proven experience installing and configuration of PI server, AF server, PI Vision, Reports and PI SQL DAS (RTQP) in a pharmaceutical project and facility
