About this role
The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, is a leading school for Sustainable Built Environment. The School plays an integral role in spearheading tertiary education, advancing research innovations and providing professional services in a number of key disciplines in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Maritime Studies fields, with the objective of contributing to the technological and economic advancement of Singapore and beyond. The position will be hosted in the Digital Intelligence for Structures and Construction (DISC) Laboratory, which is dedicated to advancing the digital transformation of the built environment. By integrating structural and construction engineering expertise with cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence, including machine learning and computer vision, robotics, and physics-based modelling, the DISC Lab pioneers new methods for monitoring, digitalization, and automation in construction. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to develop AI-driven methodologies for the digitalization and intelligent management of civil infrastructure. The role focuses on integrating computer vision, machine learning, large language models, AI agents, and 3D reconstruction techniques to generate structured digital representations from multimodal data and support infrastructure monitoring, management, decision-making, and construction progress analysis. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct research in computer vision, machine learning, large language models, AI agents, and 3D reconstruction for infrastructure digitalization and monitoring. • Develop methods for multimodal sensing, semantic understanding, information extraction, and digital twin integration using images, written reports, related sensor data. • Execute numerical/physical experiments and prototype deployments in laboratory and field environments, publish scientific outputs, support students, and collaborate with research partners and interdisciplinary teams. Job Requirements: • Candidates should hold a PhD in civil engineering, computer science, electrical/computer engineering, robotics, or a related field. • Experience in computer vision, deep learning, 3D reconstruction, multimodal sensing, LiDAR processing, or infrastructure monitoring is required. • Familiarity with machine learning, large language models, agentic AI, AI-based perception, and data integration is important. • Proficiency in programming tools such as Python, C++, and machine learning frameworks is expected, together with strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills. • Experience in infrastructure digitalization, construction processes, robotic systems, or AI-based automation will be an advantage. We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified
