About this role
What you'll do: As an Associate Director Regional Tax, you will immerse yourself in a multifaceted role that spans technical accounting for income tax under US GAAP (ASC 740), compliance management across multiple jurisdictions, and operational excellence initiatives. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve reviewing business submissions from various countries within the AMEA region during quarter-end and year-end cycles. You will collaborate extensively with headquarters teams to track effective tax rates and implement problem-solving strategies. By guiding business units through complex statutory requirements and SOX controls, you will ensure robust compliance frameworks are maintained. Your leadership skills will shine as you coach junior staff members, provide targeted training on ASC 740 standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Acting as the primary contact for cash/capital projects and transfer pricing policies in assigned geographies, you will navigate intricate cross-border transactions while analysing potential M&A activities. Proactive engagement with senior leadership will enable you to anticipate regulatory changes and communicate their impact effectively. Success in this role hinges on your ability to balance meticulous attention to detail with strategic vision—ensuring both operational compliance and long-term value creation for the organisation. • Oversee the regional income tax accounting process by managing internal and external teams to review local business submissions at quarter and year end as well as non-routine transactions. • Partner closely with headquarters tax teams to monitor regional effective tax rate movements, recommend solutions, and implement concepts that address challenges. • Guide each business unit on US GAAP (ASC 740) corporate income tax matters, foreign return-to-provision templates, local GAAP statutory financials, and ensure compliance for SOX controls. • Build an effective team by coaching direct reports, overseeing progress towards goals, motivating talent development, and fostering a collaborative environment. • Provide comprehensive training for the region on ASC 740 requirements and communicate these standards effectively to business units. • Develop self-governance in income tax accounting processes while managing compliance efforts for SOX controls and documentation requirements across all entities. • Act as primary contact for cash/capital projects and tax matters in assigned geographies, ensuring operational compliance with corporate transfer pricing policy as well as direct and indirect tax planning. • Analyse direct and indirect tax implications of proposed business transactions including M&A activities; propose efficient solutions that align with organisational objectives. • Work proactively with senior leadership to strategise for changes in tax rules or legislation, ensuring timely communication to stakeholders and minimising impact on business operations. What you bring: To excel as an Associate Director Regional Tax, your proven experience should encompass deep technical proficiency in corporate income taxation under US GAAP (ASC 740), coupled with hands-on exposure to multinational reporting processes. Your academic background—ideally supported by CPA credentials or a master's degree—will underpin your ability to navigate complex regulatory environments. Having managed teams for at least five years equips you with the empathy needed to nurture talent development while driving collective achievement. Your skillset should include partnering effectively across regions with both internal colleagues and external auditors; clear communication is paramount when translating intricate accounting standards into actionable guidance for business units. A meticulous yet adaptable mindset empowers you to handle detailed compliance tasks without losing sight of strategic priorities. Business acumen combined with personable traits ensures you can connect meaningfully with stakeholders from varied backgrounds—fostering collaboration that advances organisational goals. • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline is required to ensure foundational knowledge of taxation principles. • CPA qualification or Master's in Taxation is highly desirable as it demonstrates advanced expertise in corporate income tax matters. • At least eight years of corporate income tax experience including four years of recent tax provision experience is essential for handling complex regional responsibilities. • Experience with provision and reporting processes for multinational SEC-registered companies is necessary; prior public accounting experience (Big 4) is advantageous. • Minimum five years' experience as a people manager is required to effectively coach junior staff members within a growing team. • Extensive working knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting principles including ASC 740 framework ensures accurate technical accounting for income taxes. • Ability to partner collaboratively with regional tax experts as well as internal/external auditors supports successful cross-functional initiatives. • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills are vital for contributing both individually and within team settings. • An adaptive approach combined with a strong mindset enables you to manage details meticulously while maintaining focus on broader strategic objectives. • Good business acumen paired with personable qualities allows you to build trust-based relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
