This faced paced and demanding role will see you leada team within a highly successful and vibrant international High School setting which will require you to:- ● Lead, plan, implement, evaluate and promote a balanced comprehensive high school counselling programme. ● Lead,collaborate and consult with school personnel, students, parents, and the community to plan, implement, evaluate,and promote continuous improvement of the High School Counselling Programme. ● Lead the advocacy of the High School Counseling program and maintain counsellors ethical and professional standards with school personnel, parents, students, and the community. ● Leadership and line management of the High School Counselling Team. ● Lead all aspects of supporting the social-emotional well-being ofstudents. ● Lead, implement and support staff professional development and parent education initiatives from a socio-emotional development perspective. ● Lead in administrative duties to record and assess issues of studentwell-being. ● Lead, accumulate, organise and disseminate relevant data to informvarious stakeholders and assist the development of whole school and departmental planning. Duties The duties outlined in this job description may be modified by the Principal to reflect or anticipate changes in the job,commensurate with the salary and job title. ● Lead in the delivery of counselling services in a multicultural setting, including early identification and evaluation of students with social-emotional needs. ● Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the differing perceptions of educational and socio-emotional wellbeing needs in an international context. ● Lead in the department's engagement with parents, pupils and staff in a culturally sensitive way which reflects this understanding. ● Be a leading member of the school community by participating in schoolevents, promoting shared priorities, and contributing to the ongoing development of a positive school culture. ● Promote and encourage the Le Sallian ethos throughout the school by raising awareness, facilitating training and working collaboratively with staff. ● Lead in the development of the capacity within school to effectively meet theneeds of children who are experiencing difficulties / challenges in aspects oftheir education. ● Continue to update and develop the school’s Code of Practice for counselling, detailing principles, protocols and record keeping. ● Upon referral, work collaboratively with the Student Support Team, Pastoral Team, other Counsellors, Teachers, the LS Department and Parents to: ○ Provide advice and support on how to meet the individual needs of all students ○ Make recommendations about individual children’s needs ○ Effectively communicate counselling planning,provision and outcomes ○ Foster a close working relationship with all members of the team around the child ○ Monitor and review the child’s progress suggesting possible amendments to the programme, and making further recommendations. ● Demonstrate a culture of confidentiality that ensures pupils are appropriately safeguardedat all times ● Establish relationships, maintain contact and make referrals, where appropriate, to outside agencies.in SIngapore and overseas. ● Lead and assist in conducting professional development training for staff as appropriate. ● Arranging psycho educational talks and workshops for parents on matters related to children’s learning, mental health,social and emotional development and wellbeing. ● Establishing and maintaining information onschools overseas that welcome and cater for children with Social, Emotional and Wellbeing issues. ● Keeping up to date with research and developments in the field of educational counselling and informing the Management Team accordingly. ● Attending appropriate meetings of the Management Team advising on all matters concerning children with social and emotional needs. ● Advising in the development of a whole school policy concerned with Mental Health and Wellbeing. ● Support the CPD Leader in leading and managingthe continuous professional development of staff which reflects both the needs of the individual and the school in order to drive improvement. ● Attending network events and meetings within Singapore and online internationally a view to keep abreast of the current school counselling climate across international schools in Singapore and overseas. ● Fully support the schools safeguarding policy and know the reporting procedures to follow in case of a Child Protection issue. ● Be responsible for reporting any concerns about a child to the Designated Safeguarding Lead and update CPOMs in line withschool policy. ● Actively participating, through consultation ,on decisions about the admissions of students identified with or suspected Social,Emotional and Wellbeing issues. Required Qualifications and experience: i) Appropriate Counselling Qualification. ii) Educated to Masters Degree level or higher. iii) Accredited orworking towards an accreditation with a professional governing body inSingapore such as SAC, APACS, SPS or similar overseas. iv) Experience asa School Counsellor(Preference for International Sector)Experience of leadership role within an educational or professional setting. v) Experience of strategic planning. vi) Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills. vii) Strong collaboration and problem solving skills.
