About this role
An Automation Technician installs, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots automated production machinery and robotic systems. They ensure operational efficiency by managing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), HMIs, and electrical/mechanical components, while adhering to safety protocols. Key Responsibilities • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues under pressure to minimize production downtime. • Preventative Maintenance: Perform regular checks and repairs on robotic assembly devices, conveyors, and related automated equipment. • System Configuration: Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, often using ladder logic or other automation languages. • Installation & Improvement: Assist with installing new automation systems and upgrade existing equipment to improve yield and safety. • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and system changes in a CMMS. Required Skills & Qualifications • Education: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience). • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial electrical circuits, sensors, actuators, and robotics. • Programming Proficiency: Experience with PLC brands like Siemens or Allen-Bradley and HMI software. • Physical Ability: Capability to lift, push, or pull heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work on production floors for extended periods.
