About this role
A Computer Systems Technician installs, maintains, and repairs computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices while providing technical support to users. They diagnose network, connectivity, and system issues, ensuring optimal IT infrastructure performance. Key tasks include managing workstations, upgrading systems, and maintaining security. Key Responsibilities • Hardware/Software Installation: Set up, configure, and maintain computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and software applications. • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware/software faults, often handling IT helpdesk tickets. • Network Maintenance: Monitor and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN connectivity. • System Upgrades & Security: Install security patches, software updates, and antivirus software to protect data. • Technical Support: Provide on-site or remote assistance to users, resolving technical issues. • Inventory & Documentation: Maintain records of repairs, service activities, and hardware inventory. Required Skills and Qualifications • Education: Diploma or Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field; ITI/technical certification often accepted. • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in Windows OS (10/11), MS Office Suite, and basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). • Troubleshooting Ability: Strong analytical skills for diagnosing complex issues. • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to support non-technical users. • Physical Demands: Ability to lift equipment.
