Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Steel Production Manager to lead steel fabrication, sub-assembly, and block construction activities withina shipyard environment. This role will be responsible for driving productionefficiency, ensuring quality and safety compliance, and delivering projectsaccording to schedule. The ideal candidate should possess strong shipbuilding experience, leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in managing large-scale steel construction operations. Key Responsibilities Production & Operations Management • Lead and oversee all steel fabrication, sub-assembly, and block construction activities to support project delivery targets. • Develop and manage production schedules to ensure work progresses according to project milestones. • Monitor production performance and implement improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity. • Ensure effective utilization of manpower, equipment, materials, and yard resources. Quality & Compliance • Ensure all steel construction activities comply with classification society requirements, project specifications, and quality standards. • Monitor workmanship quality and ensure corrective actions are implemented when required. • Work closely with QA/QC teams to maintain compliance throughout project execution. Safety Management • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across production areas. • Collaborate with HSE teams to ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and company safety procedures. • Ensure safe execution of all steel construction activities within the shipyard. Team Leadership • Lead, mentor, and manage Steel Supervisors, production personnel, and subcontractor teams. • Monitor workforce performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives. • Support manpower planning and resource allocation to meet operational requirements. Stakeholder Coordination • Coordinate closely with engineering, planning, procurement, QA/QC, and project teams to ensure smooth project execution. • Provide regular updates on production progress, challenges, and recovery plans where necessary. Requirements • Degree or Diploma in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. • Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in shipbuilding, shipyard operations, or steel construction management. • Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, block assembly, and shipyard production processes. • Experience managing large production teams and subcontractors. • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; AutoCAD knowledge is an added advantage. • Strong leadership, planning, problem-solving, and communication skills. • Willing to be based full-time in Batam, Indonesia.
